If I am not mistaken year 2000 nang pumasok sa PBA si Helterbrand after a stint sa now defunct MBA, kasabayan n'ya si Ronald Magtulis at Alex Crisano, direct recruit na sila dahil nakikipag -kumpetensya ang MBA sa PBA that time, correct me if I am wrong mga fellow fans..

tama po, year 2000 direct hire si Jayjay Helterbrand by the Ginebra San Miguel... He was originally given a 9-game contract by the management after Vergel Meneses sustained injury that time. But, because of his good showing of the game, his 9-game contract was extended to 1 season.. after that, history follows..

by the way, JayJay Helterbrand has a clothing line business, store located in Greenhills... "THE GOOD NEWS".. for more info:

2000 nga naglaro si JJ sa Ginebra, naglaro si JJ sa MBA Batangas, kahit nung pumasok ang GInebra sa Finals AFC 2001 back up PG lang si JJ si Caguioa ang tirador nun sila ni Meneses at Jun Limpot. 2004 lang nabigyan ng break si JJ by coach Siot which is nagchampion ang BGK with import Braggs. Diyan na nagsimula ang Bandana Brothers.

I remember him getting some playing time under Coach Ron Jacobs back then, import pa nila si "The Great Hope" Ryan Fletcher....

Caguioa set to play soon?

By Musong R. Castillo

MARK Caguioa has started practicing with Barangay Ginebra yesterday and, pending the release of another test this week, could suit up for the Gin Kings in the season-ending PBA Governors’ Cup starting Sunday.

The 6-foot spitfire, who was named the Commissioner’s Cup’s Best Player of the Conference despite not playing in the finals, injured his right orbital eye socket in a fall during the eliminations and was initially declared out for the rest of the season.

He rejoined Ginebra in the Final Four—where it lost to eventual champion B-Meg, 4-2—after he showed encouraging signs of recovery based on MRI results.

Meanwhile, the Kings failed in two recent tries to make its nucleus younger after Alaska and Talk ‘N Text rejected trade offers.

A source bared that the Kings had haggled for the services of Texters reserve center Japeth Aguilar, but the deal was rejected by incoming TNT coach Norman Black.

Ginebra also tried to negotiate for deals that would have taken Sonny Thoss and LA Tenorio into its lineup, but Alaska team manager Joaqui Trillo shot them down.

Can't understand why TNT is still keeping Japeth Aguilar in their lineup eh hindi naman siya ginagamit. The elder Aguilar must be shaking his head in frustration that 2 generations of the Aguilars are benchwarmers in the PBA.

maybe because it they'll trade him, doon na ibibigay sa sister team nila.. why would they give him to their rival company? eh pa-retire na rin yan si asi, kailangan nila ng ipapalit.. won't be surprise if jayr reyes will be shipped to tnt or other team, for japeth aguilar. (conduit lang naman kakailanganin nila eh)

Just wondering who were offered to get these players.
