oracle_man Posted March 26, 2009 Share Posted March 26, 2009 As a Mariner fan, I am lamenting the lost opportunity of drafting #1 this June with that stupid season-ending series win sweep (against A's IIRC). The Nationals did not "help" by tanking their last 10 games or so. Notwithstanding the high risk involved in drafting SS, I'd gladly have him. But there's hope. With the Nationals not signing their 1st round pick last season (10th overall, which evolved into the 11th pick this season), they are in a lot of pressure from their fans (and prospective buyers, if any) to make sure they sign-up the their first 2 picks, so they might just pass on SS (and Boras). Yes, I agree. A straight up trade of Clay and Salty is imbalanced in favor of the Rangers so they must add a minor league player or two. But picks? I believe picks can't be traded in MLB.
