kingsville
onga noh.. omit ko na lang siya instead. but still, im pessimistic on their chances against the Dutch on their next game.i mean, they already beat an all-star laden Dominicana lineup twice. Puerto Rico looks good, eh? Quote Link to comment

gift_of_game
Boras should field his own team! anyway, guess this just goes to show that the sport is becoming less and less American... Edited March 15, 2009 by gift_of_game Quote Link to comment

agentjackbauer
Precisely why I laugh when Americans call the MLB championship the World Series; and the NBA champions as world champions. Last time I checked, Spain won the Worlds. like everything else .. mad(e) in america isnt the same from what it was back then Edited March 15, 2009 by agentjackbauer Quote Link to comment

cheeselogger
Precisely why I laugh when Americans call the MLB championship the World Series; and the NBA champions as world champions. Last time I checked, Spain won the Worlds. I think that World Series name comes from the multinationality of the players in the MLB now... or did I just shoot myself in the foot and the Americans coined that term from a long time before, even way before integration? the world champs in the NBA I think would hold some credibility as even before they always won the McDonald's battle of the champions tournament... gift_of_game
naku mukhang matutupad na ang pangarap ni consiggy, it sure doesn't seem like Lugo's gonna be healthy going into opening day... Quote Link to comment
denimhead
its been called the world series .. for a long time now .. i think even before they integrated the negro league players ... id just chuck it up to good ole american grandstanding ....the world has caught up some ways .. but if the US was to field a serious team .. with serious players .. they should have no problem winning the WBC.. i think the USA is better off fielding a bunch of Minor leaguers auditioning for a job in the big show Quote Link to comment
gift_of_game
not a bad idea there... though I gotta say, they have a good team---not a great one---and they probably just dunno how to make full use of these guys. Jeter for one, shouldn't be starting at SS. at this point in his career, he's a passable defensive SS at best.they could be more aggressive on the basepaths with the Philly combo and a little less dependent on the heavy artillery provided by the big bats. losing the jockey-turned-MVP though, hurts. denimhead
this team was made by the "long ball" approach .. not small ball hence the power emphasis Quote Link to comment
gift_of_game
yeah and that's the problem. they can't manufacture runs once the big guns go cold. they got the guys to do it but I guess...they just don't wanna do it. or maybe the mother teams told the guys not to over-exert themselves.
