kingsville
TFE- didnt know why they picked chone figgy, other than security/trade purposes; as theyre loaded in the batting roster already.- but adam jones is a good one.. a good sleeper candidate to breakout.- another good picks were chris carpenter and matt garza.- at syempre, isang tagumpay ang buchholz pick! nyahahaha! (di ba?! hehe) Baggervance- he did an awesome job with the closers. bargain at its finest, i guess..- decent starter picks and ramon hernandez is a good pick as he'll be the everyday C of the reds. Friggin 15- stockpiled on batters, which is good for a team that loves to juggle people in-and-out of the lineup.- but ben sheets isnt really a good pick, as he's out til july.- at least, he had a good sleeper pick at the catcher. Evil Empire- arguably had the best draft (minus the farmboys) as they had a potential ace in matt cain.- and a breakout candidate at the catcher slot w/ chris iannetta.- the relief corps is the big question mark.. but we'll see if marmol can get some needed help as the season goes on. Mutts- secures the STL closer job with farmboy perez and jason motte.- loving the ethier pick as he locks in the everyday job and will give decent numbers across the board.- and their pitching staff this year looks stronger than last year's, starring breakout candidate kevin slowey.- at may derek lowe pa! jackpot eh!! Consig- after santana and peavy, pitching staff's iffy; although bedard's a good pick at this stage.- posada and co-jack will give additional firepower to their all-star batting lineup. Joshi- had a flying start in the draft, as they acquired V-Wells, theriot and cappsy!- but overall, the staff must produce or the hype for keeping them wont be legit.. that will be a path to disaster. Camachile- the pablo sandoval was totally a reach, and a loooong one at that.- good picks here are carlos guillen, chris dickerson and to the lesser extent, gavin floyd.- liriano and lester have to prove their worth as the top aces as the rest arent that talented. Chain Gang- doumit? - baker and UJ are great picks. they have to step up since ervin's on the DL for april.- offense will be the vital cog for the success. snitchy- here's another team that made a great draft, as they nabbed beltre, carlos gomez, napoli and hawpe- mike G's a good sidekick/RP2 for k-rod..- and why andruw jones? - should be good enough to contend for a playoff spot. Roughnecks- logic says they hafta get lots of batters, and boy, they did get LOTS.. almost every pick in the draft.- aubrey huff isnt guaranteed for an encore this year, but at least he'll be helpful for cheese's infield.- good picks here are chris B. young and jose guillen; and possibly miggy tejada if he's cleared to play. ChixNuggz- typical Cal draft.. stockpile on batters... but only pierzynski and jd drew only stand out as the good ones.- rickie weeks could be serviceable enough to fill the hole at 2B.- parra and wainwright are great SP picks. - the team could be on the verge of repeating last year's top-seeded performance. Anki- giambino and nelson cruz are cool picks.. adding extra punch to the Cubs-laden batting group.- chris r. young & johnny cueto could help the pitching staff (also Cubbies-led)- although 2B's still in a mess..- overall, this bunch's good enough for another solid run. Bushwhackers- olats! Edited March 14, 2009 by kingsville Quote Link to comment
gift_of_game
kv, the chone figgy pick was just about stls + runs. no team does it better on the basepaths...at least in the AL. he'll play the same role this year for the Halos so as long as he stays healthy, the bounce-back to decent numbers (80 runs/40bags) is within reach. the loss of OF value hurts though, since I can't move him around as much. my one regret with taking him first is that I let Bedard get away. :( Quote Link to comment
cheeselogger
if I were in the draft I would have at least nabbed Wainwright early... this bat-ful lineup is too much for my comfort... Quote Link to comment
agentjackbauer
Thanks KVille for the quick analysis! Majority of my Keep 10 guys were batters so the make-up of my batting line-up is the same (plus I drafted a returnee in O-Cabrera) . I also drafted two SPs I dropped from my roster (returnees Maholm and Maine) so halos the same na rin ang SPs ko except that I humbly think I got a steal of a pick in R. Nolasco. And then I got Kerry Wood who should be (fingers crossed) an upgrade from Sherrill. Overall, I potentially have a (slightly) better team than last year. That should enable my team to make the jump to the 8th spot, from our season-ending 10th (or was it 9th?) place finish last season. Edited March 14, 2009 by agentjackbauer Quote Link to comment
