Jongkers
The closer race just got tighter, I think, with Saito signing with the Red Sox.Suddenly, Broxton's value shot up. Quote Link to comment
gift_of_game
man, how i wish i can have that kind of production from my boys... key point here... both Ludwick and Quentin were undrafted. :thumbsupsmiley: Quote Link to comment
Jongkers
All that Cal! needs now is at least a tier-2 closer and he's good to go.Maybe a Brian Fuentes and the tons of one-run games in Anaheim. :thumbsupsmiley: Calling on the Nugz!! Woohoo! Quote Link to comment
gift_of_game
@consigyou could try go for Quentin or Ludwick but it would probably cost more...probably throw in Broxton for that deal you had in place for Furcal... Quote Link to comment
consiglieri
actually yun na ang naiisip ko.... get quentin and maybe keep drew the deal he was thinking about was joba+broxton for furcal...pero medyo torn nga ako kay drew and lowrie...so maybe make a move nalang for an OF... kingsville
OT: Mwahahaha.. tony almeda, buhay ka pa pala! yo 3D.. all I can say is: :boo: QUICK HITS: CHICKEN NUGGETSLikely Keepers: Carlos Quentin, Hanley Ramirez, Jake Peavy The top-seeded team just needs a 2nd-tier closer in the draft and a staff to back up Peavy (and possibly Beckett) to bag the 'chip.Offense is well-oiled and doesnt need any fixing.. And oh, he also has the best catcher prospect, just sitting there in his farm. if that's the answer youre looking for at C. SNITCH DEVIL 24Likely Keepers: Brandon Webb, Brandon Phillips, Derrek Lee Another team projected to have a balanced group to be kept.outstanding pitching staff as well, with AL cy young Cliff Lee and NL cy young runner-up Spidey Webb.Like most teams, they need a closer, even if they decide to keep mike gonzalez. CAMACHILE BATTERS Key Arrivals: OF Jay Bruce, RP Joakim Soria, SP Jon LesterKey Departure: OF Matt HollidayLikely Keepers: Jay Bruce, Brian Roberts, Francisco Liriano Despite losing Holliday, the team got a lot of great pieces with new leading OF Jay Bruce, potential ace Lester and top-tier closer Soria. pitching seems fine now.. just needs more offense in the filler draft, I think. this team seems to be on a rebuilding mode, but should remain competitive in the major-league aspect.Colby Rasmus was a good addition for the farm system.just has to be make good use of his 5 picks. kingsville
@consig: malamang.. THE EVIL EMPIRE Key Arrivals: OF Matt HollidayKey Departures: LF Raul Ibanez, SP Justin Verlander, SP Jon LesterLikely Keepers: 1B Albert Pujols, OF Nick Markakis, OF Matt Holliday our early nominee for 2009 MTC fantasydom tagline of the year:"why pay for sex if you can get it for free" Offense is also well-stacked, can certainly complete with ajb, chix nuggz and TFE.especially with the acquisition of Matt Holliday and the tagline, btw.. applies to their starting rotation.. as it's bound to be fixed in the upcoming draft anyway.also, the team's engaged in trade discussions to acquire a top-of-the-rotation ace.as of this writing, they have the most lethal closer combo in the game.. with k-rod and soria. its only a matter of time for its strong farm system to help this team. ROUGHNECK BOMBERS Likely Keepers: OF Carlos Beltran, OF Carlos Lee, C Brian McCann The two consistent Carloses will lead the fort and dish out some smackdown on opposition on the batting department, with the top-ranked catcher mccann and uggla helping from the infield spots. they also have balance btw, with new Yankee CC sabathia and consistent closer Jenks out there.although they took a big hit with their high pick Billy Wagner shelved for 2009, and possibly beyond. yup, gotta do some fixing for the staff as well.. maybe Kershaw could help but that's up to the GM.and more importantly, the farm system has to keep chugging. yay.. i got em all, except our team.. :thumbsupsmiley: Edited January 12, 2009 by kingsville Quote Link to comment

cheeselogger
@ DH I would probably have asked for pick/s or farm boys for Salmon and/or Billy... you could try offering me something and let see how it goes, I'd be even willing to package them if the price is right... @ doc I am interested in some young pitching and/or picks. I think you have an idea how I build my teams, as flawed as it is... offer something up and let's see how it goes... @ tafkaw got the inspiration from trip dub... anyway, still not sold on AJ as I still think even with a loaded offense supposed to back him up he still has to prove he will be real healthy enough to play in enough games. and I ain't too optimistic on him, I'm more inclined to keep on believing on the young arms NY has than him... blind and illogical faith I know... ADDENDUM (if I even used this right) @ kville thanks for the analysis, though I think you missed Uggla as a "no-brainer" keeper. though his blunderous ASG debut is still fresh in true baseball fans, his power at that position can't be ignored. just my two cents though... also, my gamble on Blanton and the NY young arms cost me big time last season. I have always thought Joe would have at least made/tried his best impression as the A's ace after Haren's trade and never expected the injury bug/slump from Hughes and Kennedy...
