khilua23
Aside from those teams who won the grand slam.. i'll go for shell year 1999 when they beat the Tanduay team with Menk and Alvarado in the line up.. putsa, pang import and 2 un kumpara mo sa pure breed paras and pablo.. still, they won.. Guest airmax
ginebra 1997 season. first two conferences nasa championship sila. ginebra 2004 they won two conferences tama ba? ehehhe as for pido he only joined ginebra in 1992 after he got traded to ginebra from swift or pop cola. he was never apart of the 1990 ginebra team that staged a walkout against shell. ok lang nabawian naman sila ng ginebra the following year. the only team in the pba to comeback from a 3-1 lead. at that time magaling si magsanoc sa three point shot. he was one of the premiere point guards during that time kaso dinepensahan sya ni Isaac na mas matangkad sa kanya. dencio
Not a thread on which franchise is the all-time best, or has won more championships (i.e. San Miguel), but which teams had the best performance over the course of a season. I admit I was a Crispa fan before, but I will try to be objective as possible ----------------------------- #1 Crispa, 1983 (Grand Slam) You can't go wrong with this team. Their first 5 were Guidaben, Cezar, Hubalde, Co, and Fabiosa. Their bench is composed of Bay Cristobal, Yoyoy Villamin, Padim Israel and Mon Cruz - these guys would start on any other teams. To top it all, they had Billy Ray Bates as import. Guidaben (MVP), Cezar and Co were part of the Mythical 5. After #1, the rest of the rankings would be debatable. Here's my attempt in ranknig #2 to #10 #2 Crispa, 1976 (Grand Slam)PBA's first grand slam team. Crispa still had Bogs Adornado in their line up, who won his 2nd MVP that season. Their imports were Bill Bunton and the legendary Cyrus Mann #3 San Miguel, 1989 (Grand Slam)During that season, they had the best all around player (Fernandez), best point guard (Calma), best finisher (Elmer Reyes), the best big-man defender (Alvin Teng), and the best coach (Norman Black) Agree ako dito sa top 3! Sayang lang for the younger folks in this forum na hindi naabutan ang PBA in general and Crispa in particular during those early years. In the 1983 season, Billy Ray Bates was really sensational and took the league by storm. :thumbsupsmiley: Guidaben emerged from the shadows of Co and Cezar to take over the mantle as the top Redmanizer on his way to the MVP. Yoyoy Villamin was beginning to blossom as one of the league's top power forwards, while Padim was already showing signs of being an exceptional defensive stopper. And let's not forget coach Tommy Manotoc's brilliant handling of this star-studded team. Quote Link to comment
jackbrng
PUREFOODS!!!! pang-pinoy na team. sila ang may pinakamaraming All Filipino Finals Appearance. Nung kalakasan nila Patrimonio, Codinera, Lastimosa, Capacio, Pumaren, parang taon-taon nasa All Filipino Finals sila. Hirap sila pag may import kasi di nila trip yung ganong conference, import kasi ang nagpapanalo at hindi locals kaya di sila ganon ka-determine mag-champion. hehehe Quote Link to comment
mark_pogi
2006 Ginebra Team: Helterbrand, Caguioa, Menk, Reavis, Hatfield, Santos, Macapagal, Abarrientos, Tubid etal. :thumbsupsmiley: :thumbsupsmiley: they made san miguel team look like mosquitos in the finals when they beat them by an average of 30 points in games 3 and 4 (only 1991 or 1992 Ginebra team did the same feat against shell in the finals) Quote Link to comment

Here's my attempt in ranknig #2 to #10 i'm actually old enough thus lucky enough to see this season. am a redmanizeds fan myself and i must admit andami kong napanalunang pustahan against sa mga classmates kong toyota fans. bates was, at that time, the most sensational, most exciting import the league has ever seen. bates was just imposing his will over the opponents. his arsenal of offensive weapons were just amazing. tomahawk dunks, left handed dunks (even though he is right handed), 3 pt shots from virtually any angle he was just unstoppable. he actually earned his monicker "the black superman". and also i wont forget my two fave locals - cesar whom i believe is the second greatest all around baller next to el presidente and fabiosa whom i believe was the best point guard before calma and abbarientos showed up. Import David Thirdkill. Mix of new blood and veterans when they started. Then they had Darren Queenan and Al Solis and Boy Cabahug and also Nelson Asaytono. Hindi ko na ilalagay ang seasons. gherome
Most prolly the Crispa and Tanduay teams back then.. :thumbsupsmiley: But since I'm biased..hehe..I'd agree with complicated8: the Queenan (and another import), Patrimonio, Codinera days. Or the Coney Island/Cowboys team: Patrimonio, Codinera, Cabahug, Capacio, and Redfield (not sure if Dindo was part of this team).. Quote Link to comment
