Motorcycles and Scooters

Recommended Posts

^hehe.. bawal posting of numbers.

question lang. when I'm out on my [big] bike and going through an open field running above 60 kph I often feel as if my bike is moving/swerving with the wind, lalo na kapag ang hangin ay from the side. whenever I feel that swerving sensation I have to decelerate to 50 and below.

nagtataka lang ako because that doesn't happen on my scooter. last sunday on my scooter I went to the same windy field [brrrrrrr! ang ginaw! you literally feel Christmas in the air] and traveled 60+ kph. I didn't feel the swerving sensation on my scooter. However, I wouldn't recommend going 60+ kph on a scooter even though it is a 150 scooter :thumbsdownsmiley: I'm just trying out something.

is it because my scooter is more aerodynamic than the sports bike? I also know that the sports bike is heavier and with wider tires than the scooter but why does it feel like my bike is swerving with the wind?

any advice to counter this?

Get a Harley, you'll never have that problem.

^^thanks guys. mag-gym pa kaya ako to strengthen my arms (I read that somewhere).. and more experience riding.

eto pala quoted from MCP:

At a Senate hearing today, Sen. Richard Gordon revealed that he has filed a bill to require plate numbers on helmets as well as color coding of helmets per region.

He said that a large number of assassinations and crimes were perpetrated by motorcycle riders, and that this move would help identify and deter criminals. He said that he had implemented the scheme as mayor of Olongapo city, and that it had "taken a huge bite out of crime."

Asked whether his proposal would violate human rights or constitutional provisions, he said that it won't. "People are already required to wear crash helmets for safety, putting the plate numbers on them won't make much of a difference," he said.

pakingshet.. platenumber na nga, may color coding pa. ano kaya ang nakain or tinitira ni gordon to come up with this proposal?!? <_<

TIGNAN MO NGA NAMAN ANG NAISIP NI GORDON. ANG GALING NAMAN! IMAGINE MO MAY PLATE NUMBER KA SA HELMET? AS IN PLATE HA? TAPUS MAY COLOR CODING PA. SYEMPRE NAKA TURNILYO YUN PLATE NUMBER SA HELMET AT MALAMANG KAILANGAN VISIBLE PARA SA MGA PULIS YUN PLATE NUMBER, 'DI BA? KASI USELESS ANG PLATE NUMBER SA HELMET MO KUNG MALIIT LANG ANG NAKA LAGAY. TAPUS TANGAL PA YUN TINATAWAG NA ARTS SA MGA HELMET O SELP EKSPRESYON. TAPUS KAPAG SUMEMPLANG KA AT SUMADSAD ANG HELMET SA MAY PARTE NG PLATE NUMBER BIGLANG NATANGGAL AT LUMIPAD NA PARANG BLADE, SAAN KAYA ITO TATAMA? ANG GALING TALAGA NI GORDON!

HAY NAKU, TITO SAFE NGA KAYO SA MGA ASSASSIN. TANGGAL NAMAN POGI POINTS NG MGA BIKERS.

You have to understand where the good senator is coming from. The simpleton in the senator is just thinking that in a perfect world, putting an identity mark on riders by way of helmet registration would somehow deter crimes perpetuated on bikes.

While he was able to implement this (on a limited scope) in his area, this is surely not implementable on a national scale.

Also, if crime deterrence is the objective, there's other more cost effective ways of doing this. I mean, a gunman will just steal a helmet or get an unregistered helmet and proceed to do his crime.

So, weighing in the technicalities on the difficulty on implementation versus the limited benefits, it's really impractical and unimplementable, whatever his good intentions are.

sa bagay. however, I would only comply with this new racket if: the government will provide me with the helmet. as before, very very subjective and open to kotong ang paglagay ng platenumber without specifics unless the government will shoulder the cost of our helmets

Another useless bill by Gordon. By the way, what is the purpose of a plate number, to identify the bike? or the biker? What if I have 3 bikes? Does it mean I should have 3 helmets? Useless bill.

don't forget your back ride..

so that makes 6 helmets in total

In a way I like this new measure. Why? Because you will have to pair a helmet to the bike. This means, walang manghihiram ng bike ko--which I like. Mas madaling tumangging magpahiram ng helmet kesa magpahiram ng bike. Wag lang payagan na naka velcro lang yun number sa helmet.

ngehehehe.. same here. I treat my helmet like my brief. AKO LANG ANG GAGAMIT.

I don't see how the proposed bill of dick could prevent crimes; I even believe he just made it easier for the criminals. instead of the motorcycle yung helmet na lang nanakawin. after nakawin ang helmet, use it to perpetrate a crime. viola! yung pinagnakawan ng helmet ang suspect and expect na ratratin na ng mga pulis without investigating. also, color coding on helmets? Dick obviously did not consider the supply of helmets available, along with the finances. sa bagay, yung budget for the proposed plate numbers on helmets sa atin rin naman mangagaling [i.e. taxes].

magiging inconvenience rin for those of us who use their bikes for long distances. I sometimes have to travel from baguio-pangasinan-tarlac-pampanga, so that means I have to bring 4 helmets with different colors :(

OT: this given the propensity of our LEOs to go berserk on a father and daughter [because they were in the crime scene], a PNCC worker trying not to get caught in the cross fire [niratrat because nakaleather jacket; pinatay na nga, pinipilit pa ng pumatay na suspect siya].

FOR PASSENGER USE ONLY HELMETS hehehehe

wla lang...

spray painting ang putting stickers on your helmet is not advisable as it would deteriorate the helmet's integrity. there are some solvents that dissolve plastics and fiberglass. kung ang simpleng off lotion kaya magtunaw ng styrofoam, what more the other solvents?

and it would be absurd if pati ang helmet mo ay ipaparegister/renew sa lto. the helmet is not part of the overall bike. and yes, as before with bayagni's proposal, backrides are also required to have platenumbers on their helmets
