member ako dun. masasabi ko lang ay kakaunti ang matinong kausap dun. lax moderation kasi

I agree. Sayang yun site ng MCP. Kokonti ang nakakapag-post na medyo sensible.

By the way, during a family get-together, I was chatting with some legislator relatives, a senator, a congressman, and some guy in the cabinet and we all agreed that our traffic laws need to be rationalized and put together in one coherent code and not scattered all over our book of laws.

For one thing, the principle for determining culpability in a traffic 'incident' should be clarified and brought in line with that of other countries wherein the basis is on who has the right-of-way.

In the Philippines, while we have a right of way principle being applied, we also have this stupid idea of a person being found at fault if it could be proven that it was he who had the last chance to avoid an accident irrespective of whether he was in the correct place or not. Thus, a car who hits a pedestrian crossing under a pedestrian overpass can still be held liable for negligence, reckless imprudence and even homicide if he hits a walking pedestrian because it could be argued that we had a lot of time to see the assh*le and either brake, or swerve, or both--unless he was driving at an excessive speed. In line with this, expect a call for public consultations at some point especially about prohibiting all vehicles from overtaking other vehicles within the same lane. Obviously, this means motorcycles cannot overtake another vehicle while running on the same lane. You must change lanes to do this. Or not overtake.

This means splitting lanes will also be a no no.

Opinions?

^maybe it's time for a motorcycle lane? naah.. kung yung yellow lane hindi nasusunod, motorcycle/bike lane pa.

maybe rerouting of riders to pass through other streets? again, naaah.. this would only transfer the traffic to another location.

classifying lane-splitting as a violation is absurd as this would not apply to riders only, but also to the whole driving population. I'm pretty sure that if motorcycles were not allowed to lane-split and that to occupy the road as a car would (single-file) then traffic would be loooooooonger, not to mention that the wide space of a single motorcycle would be tempting to a cager to "squeeze" into effectively pushing the rider to the side or back or to the shoulder. poor rider. the chances that the cager will be cited for violation of lane splitting is very low as the cager will reason that it was the rider and not him/her.

*sigh* this is a multifactor problem given the facts:

  • driver education is nonexistent.
  • nonexistent licensing and regulation system (LTO). our licenses are just pieces of plastic and paper, similar to diploma mills in recto.
  • road courtesy is nonexistent.
  • our LEOs who should uphold the law are also the main violators of these laws
  • poor interpretation of the law by the LEOs. kanya-kanyang pagkakaintindi.
  • each city, province, municipality, LGU has their own laws and regulations
  • too stressful driving conditions: pedestrians in the dark, bad roads, malfunctioning street lights, vehicles that should not be on the roads (water-pump powered trikes anyone?), etc.
  • underaged/underqualified drivers.

You forget the fact that road users, not just motorcycle riders, use our roads with selfish abandon as if the road system was meant for them only along with that catch-me-if-you-can attitude towards LEOs. And bike riders, probably of their mistaken notion that they have the fastest accelerating, fastest stopping, most agile vehicle on the road tend to want to show it all the time--which was my first attraction to using an SUV.

driver attitudes. the notion of "I'm bigger so make way" or "I'm faster so make room."

what attracted me in using a motorcycle years ago was the size. I've wasted so many hours sitting inside a car in traffic when I saw how mobile a motorcycle was, squeezing through traffic and lane-splitting. now they expect riders to sit still in traffic. if that's the case then I'd rather sit the traffic out in my car. malas kung kalagitnaan ng traffic naipit ka on your bike at noon with the sun blazing down on you. naprito ka na sa init ng makina, naoven ka sa init ng araw, at pinausukan ka pa from the exhaust of other vehicles <_<

in occasions that I can't lane split when traffic is so heavy, all I do is get down from my bike and relax at the nearest sari sari store to wait out the traffic; or if I'm in a hurry then I push my bike along the sidewalks. don't ride on the sidewalks for all you novice riders, huhuliin kayo. when you push your bike hindi kayo huhuliin. kayo pa ang tutulungan ng LEO minsan. I usually do this at the vicinity of UP diliman-kamuning. ilang meters lang pagtutulak to the u-turn slots libre na ang daloy ng traffic :P it's also good for your cardio

first thing to do is to prepare all ur docs like proof of purchase, proof that ur n ofw then next is to secure an exit clearance for ur item then look for a forwarder that will process ur importation going to PI then after the unit has arrived u nid then to process the custom clearance any pay the tax duties (which as I remember is 150% of declared value, legit process to kip in mind) after u finish the customs then next step is the LTO. Or if u want look for a forwarder n may contact s customs para cya n bhla sa lahat(just ready n din for lagayan system)

salamat tol....naliwanagan ko na.

just go to the LTO and add restriction 1 in your license. malapit na ba ang renewal ng llisensya? it would only cost you 30 to add restriction 1.

nouvo Z is in the 74k range (this was last year, not updated)

hope this helps..

thank you for your quick reply..ang renewal po ng license ko ay next year march..my question is if I have the restriction added..will it be renewed at the same time?? or will I need to have it renewed next year..I guess either way is ok...because as you said its only 30 pesos to have the restriction added...will this be any LTO office?? I tried to ask for it to get an added restriction when I renewed my license 2+ years ago in remedios and said that the office is just a renewal office...I will need to go to tayuman to have it added...is it going to be the same now??? or I can go to any renewal offices around the metro or the malls.

as for the bikes..my first choice is the nuovo z..then MIO soul and MIO..do you know the prices of the other 2?? thanx very much!! :headsetsmiley:
