A tip for bachelors going there, don't be shy or timid...be assertive in the right places and you can be rewarded.

 

Example, we were two Filipinos then taking a Masters degree course and we were out drinking in a nearby bar. My friend went to the Men's Room (mental note to Pinoy's, don't look for the CR, hindi nila alam yon.) and two girls, unwittingly, sat in the stool of my friend, thinking it was an open seat. I didn't notice them because I was stupidly admiring a hot MILF Latina (I learned later she was Colombian) then in another table. My friend came back and saw the two girls and jokingly demanded his stool. The girls were apologetic and was standing up. Of course, the gentlemen we were, we both stood up and just gave them our seats, if they'ld have drinks with us. They obliged and when the night was over, these girls were taking us home to their apartment.

 

Lesson # 1 - It helps to be able to note opportunities for striking up a conversation with any girl there.

 

Lesson # 2 - Be assertive but not be aggressive. There are a lot of nice people in NY but there are freaks too. If they sense you are too aggressive, women may put you in the category of freaks and won't touch you even with a ten foot pole.

 

Lesson # 3 - Don't worry if you crash and burn...meaning even if a woman rejects you, so what, people don't know you. You are just passing by NY. And even if you are staying there, its a Million Plus population city, nobody would even remember that happened.

 

Lesson # 4 - Well actually, more of a tip, pick Caucasian ladies...They have a thing for Asian Men. We look uniquely "exotic" to them.

they usually have cd players and headphones with em and will come up to you and ask you to listen to a couple of their songs (r&b and rap) and ask you what u think about... after that, wala ka nang ligtas... the next thing you know is that shelling out 10 bucks for a f#&king cd... crap... 10 dollars sa quiapo, tiba tiba ka na sa porn! hehe

Nice! i was actually in NYC last year and its NOT true that new yorkers are rude. they are actually quite friendly, its only that many people here are immigrants so they may not be 100% fluent in english and maybe curt in responding when you ask for directions.

anyway, went to coney island and met these brazilians (or latinas, i'm not sure) and they were in bikinis at around 6pm. i was amazed because i was freakin cold (i was wearing denim pants and had my jacket zippered up). but these girls are prancing around in tiny bikinis and taking pictures of each other. i was afraid to approached at first but gathered my courage and offered to take their pictures. they were glad and gave various "nakaka-tigas titi" poses. it was the start of a very beautiful friendship. i would have never forgiven myself if i didn't approach them...

For the first timer, must-sees in NYC include the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, Times Square, the Empire State Building, Central Park, Brooklyn Bridge, Museum of Natural History, and Rockefeller Center in midtown Manhattan. Personally I like hanging out in Central Park in autumn when the leaves start changing into various colors. It's so peaceful sitting there you hardly notice there's a city full of cars and people just a couple of yards away from you.

 

I also like the hustle and bustle of Times Square and nearby Broadway where one can catch a show like Les Miserables, Lion King, etc.

 

The Empire State Building provides the most magnificent aerial view of Manhattan, now that the World Trade Twin Towers are no longer there.

 

Over all, NYC is the USA's most famous city. But it must be said that NYC is not the United States just as Metro Manila is not the Philippines.

New York is one of my all time favorite cities in the world. I love walking along vibrant Times Square and enjoy the tranquility of Central Park. The best of both worlds. The Broadway shows are fabulous and there's an energy inside the city that you won't feel in a small town like Woodbridge in New Jersey. There's nothing like the big city.

New York City is one of my favorite cities in the US. There's the vibrancy of Times Squate, the wonderous views atop the Empire State the serenity of Central Park. The Museum of Natural History. Strawberry HIlls. the Dakota inn where John Lennon was shot dead.

there is so much to see that it'd probably be a good idea to take a double-decker bus tour that'll allow you to see the sights from above street level (manhattan has a lot of art deco buildings that are gorgeous from higher up). the bus tour also allows you to get a better grasp of places that you might want to visit on your own depending on what your interests are.

Times Square for me is the very heart of NYC. All the bright neon lights, all the people, nearby Broadway, street performers, street artists, restaurants, delicatessens, shops, etc. make this part of NYC the center of the city.

If you want to go to ellis island it is much cheaper to go take it on jersey side, much cheaper, and lines are much shorter. There is a ferry to go to jersey.go get a night cruise going to lady liberty and it will blow your mind off. there is a mandatory gratuity tip 15% if you eat somewhere downtown along broadway and nearby stalls. I suggest to eat along 5th ave. and 37th street going up. there is a good korean food strip along 36th ave. and 5th ave.before you go down to broadway. Check out groupon site to get good deals along nyc. Broadway is a must see. 5th ave for high end shopping. but for shopping I suggest you do it with premium outlets. there is one at woodbury commons on highway 87 north and exit 16. Go visit a nyc museum, never pay for the actual price!!!! just give them a quarter and say that you would like to have a donation, and they wont ask anything more .
