borneo24
When you are stuck in heavy traffic specially here in the metro your car or motorcycle engine is still running and it doesn't add to your mileage.. so always change the oil earlier than the recommended mileage wag po natin tipirin ang engine oil yan lang po ang buhay ng mga sasakyan natin. always be safe 1 Quote Link to comment

viii
the catalytic converter ? why so ? how does using a diesel engine oil in a gas engine affect the catalytic converter ? hmmmm. are you takling about diesel fuels or diesel engine oils? Diesel motor oils use more detergents than Gasoline oils. while these additives are good for the longevity of the engine, they can cause your catalytic converter to malfunction. The 3-way catalytic converters that gasoline engines use are much more sensitive to exhaust particulates and can easily be clogged by particulates from the additives that are in the diesel oils. using diesel oils for gasoline engines will lead to premature cat damage. Gasoline vehicles have much stricter emissions regulations than diesels which is also why they use more complicated emissions control systems. Quote Link to comment

Many people do not realize that engine mileage is increased when stuck in traffic. This would qualify under harsh driving conditions in the car owners manual. As I recall, if using a non syn oil & driving under hharsh conditions, it is better to change at 3k kms. I might also add that it is also very important to use the best quality oil filters rather than replacement ones. Quote Link to comment

Sethproth
For fleet (diesel) - we use KEVLON 15W40 CF grade (equivalent to Petron Multigrade) Its cheaper kasi eh pero I checked the specs and additives, its of high quality. We get it for P2,800/pale (20L) and change oil every 6x months even if below 5thkm since severe ang usage (traffic, 3x cycles/day). So far so good, our oldest L300 is now 278thkm and still strong never skipped a bit. Alaga lang din sa fuel filter, tappet, timing belt and 2x na na calibrate. Quote Link to comment
