For me : the best cover song ever is "Everytime You Go Away" by Paul Young.

 

The original was done by another legendary duo Daryll Hall and John Oates (aka "Hall and Oates")

Im partial to originals vs. covers. Its real hard to do justice to a song that an artist poured his heart & soul in composing, recording & producing. I must admit though that there are covers who not just did justice to the originals, but have made their own mark in the music industry.

 

Some notable covers that I like include:

Hurt covered by Johnny Cash, originally done by Nine Inch Nails

The Man Who Sold the World covered by Nirvana, a David Bowie original

Hallelujah covered by Jeff Buckley, originally by Leonard Cohen

For me, it depends doon sa pagkaka-cover ng artist doon sa isang old o classic songs, like i said before, when covering a certain song the artist covering it must do justice to it..
