For me, I think 80s in first world countries was our 90s. HAHA But overall i'd definitely go 90s - no internet!

The answer may be relative, but for me, the '80s seem to be the coolest decade, in terms of technology, fashion, music, politics, etc. There was Apple and the rise of the Apple IIe, Microsoft, and many more. This decade marked the rise of the personal computer and other new technologies that became pervasive from the 90's up to now. At the start of the decade, the GUI interface was being developed, and by its end, such was already embedded in a lot of productivity software. The ATMs also started to proliferate.

 

This decade saw the end of the dictatorship in the Philippines, but also gave rise to a lot of political actions that seem to be burdensome today. Worldwide, a lot of communist countries started to fall. Globalization and trade liberalization started to take roots.

 

Queen, Michael Jackson, Madonna, etc...

 

The 80's seem to be a springboard of the comforts that millenials now enjoy.

For most people the coolest decade was the decade where they've been in their teenage years. And for me that will be the 80's: new wave music, MTVs (Video Hot Tracks, Video Hit Parade, etc.), baston and baggy pants, cool tv shows (Macgyver, Alf, Perfect Strangers, etc.), Madonna vs Cyndi Lauper...
