dungeonbaby
Conan the Barbarian was formulaic but it was still hugely entertaining I thought. I watched it in 3D but it's probably okay to watch it in regular cinema. Though I never was a fan of Schwarzenegger's break-through role as Conan in the 80s, I bet my friends who were will say the Governator was a better barbarian. Jason Momoa, though smaller in size than Ah-nold, was dingy enough and grunted often enough to convince me he was indeed a brute. Some of the acting could have been more expressive but the general gore and the amount of sneering kind of made up for that. Things you will see: Ron Perlman without prosthetics, Rose McGowan without eyebrows, slavegirls and tavern wenches in minimalist clothing, swords, sorcery, the obligatory tentacled creature, and Stephen Lang (who I liked in Public enemies) as a terrific bad guy. Things you won't see much of because they've been cut: nudity, sex and violence. So I'm getting the DVD. To better appreciate the effects of violence, of course. Quote Link to comment

Droidz1979
Johnny English out of 10 i'd give it a 5. More of a 4 for me.. i think the first installment was slightly better. Heck, the dude should have a movie just by himself only it would have been way funnier. He doesn't need big time props or co-stars, he is hilarious in itself. Quote Link to comment
Strau
Seen the movie "What's your number?" last night. . . . . Anna Faris and Chris Evans - (yum!) I'll give it a 9! Funny. Charming. And i swiftly fell in love with the movie. A must see for me! Quote Link to comment
Droidz1979
Watched Real Steel yesterday at SM Megamall.. parang MRT na din pala entrance nila dun Must say that its a good movie and a must-watch! The movie runs for 2 hours but on its ending you'd think that it all happened so fast.. There's not much depth to the story here, its a robot version of Rocky Balboa but its basically the good on-screen chemistry of the actors, absence of dragging scenes and the good effects that carried the movie. Hugh Jackman plays as a down-and-out former boxer Charlie Kenton who has a ten-year-old son Max (Dakota Goya). The kid is very charismatic and has a very good scene wherein he and the robot is dancing prior to the fight. And their robot, Atom is BAD-ASS! Am not gonna squell the rest of the story and I must say that you better watch it yourself in the big screen since its worth every buck/penny that your gonna have to shell out Quote Link to comment

dungeonbaby
Underworld Awakening: not too shabby, good to see Kate Beckinsale in her shiny corset again kicking butt, but...it was pretty formulaic, the plot felt rushed. it's a good excuse for eating inordinate amounts of popcorn though you lose nothing by missing it. it's an ok date movie. Coriolanus: NOT a popcorn movie. don't watch this expecting an action movie, it's Shakespeare in Bosnia or some dingy eastern European locale. the acting, especially by Vanessa Redgrave, is sheer talent and the movie gets less awkward towards the end. NOT a good date movie unless you're both english majors. Quote Link to comment
