Now bring on the finalsby FIFAworldcup.com The 2006 FIFA World Cup Germany™ moved a tantalising step closer to reality after the intrigue and excitement of the Final Draw at the Messe in Leipzig tonight. The draw produced some mouthwatering match-ups, not least in Group C where African newcomers Côte d'Ivoire will play two-times winners Argentina, Serbia and Montenegro and the Netherlands in the toughest-looking section. Italy, Ghana, United States and the Czech Republic also present a formidable lineup in Group E. Holders Brazil are in Group F with Croatia, Australia and Japan, meaning former Brazilian hero Zico must prepare his Japanese team to face the team he represented at three previous FIFA World Cups. Hosts Germany will take on Poland, Ecuador and Costa Rica in Group A and the Germans' meeting with Costa Rica in Munich will open the tournament on 9 June next year. Elsewhere, the 1998 winners France will kick off their campaign against neighbours Switzerland, England coach Sven-Goran Eriksson will face his home country Sweden for the second FIFA World Cup running, and Lusitanian countries Portugal and Angola, another of their first-timers, will meet. Labuyo
glad to see that the only sensible thread i started is still alive and kicking...i hardly get to play soccer nowadays since i'm more into ultimate frisbee lately... faster game and soccer players do well since familiar na with moving/cutting on the field. at alam to move w/o the ball/disc. hemingways, i have several teams that i hope would do well in the upcoming world cup. trinidad and tobago - i spent a considerable amount of time in that country and i have fond memories of it. (hey! didn't mean that all my reasons would be football related)japan and korea - since they're the closest asian country to the philippines that was able to qualifybrazil - because i strongly believe that they're primed to repeat. Ryan Giggs to Inter Milan daw..Roy Keane disproves reports of agreement to play for Real Madrid.. Quote Link to comment
bubuy
gravesen going to ManU is a bright spot.. he's played in the premiership before, he knows the style of play of the league.. i think he can mesh immediately with the players.. i just hope that the other players put more heart into their games..
