Surstromming. I kid you not, this is one of, if not the absolute worst in the world. Balut doesn't even come close. I don't know what's the big deal about balut. You are eating a duck abortion, so what, at least it's cooked. Surstromming is fermented herring from Sweden. You put raw herring in a can, fill it with water, and add just enough salt, not enough salt to stop it from rotting, but enough salt to stop it from rotting completely, then you seal it all in. So basically you are eating a half rotten fish. The smell alone can make you throw up. If you can actually put it it your mouth, I salute you.
