no Condura Skyway Marathon 2017 :'(

Dear Fellow runners,

 

In 2008, we started a revolution by launching a World Class international standard race in the Philippines called the Condura run. With the soul of being a “run by runners for runners” and the vision of being “the Premier Marathon Event in the Philippines and Asia Pacific”, the Condura Skyway Marathon became the most loved, the most anticipated and the biggest marathon event in the Philippines.

 

But what made this run extra special is that you, our runners ran to champion environmental causes in Tubbataha, the Dolphins of Bohol, the Whale sharks of Donsol and the mangroves of Zamboanga de Sibugay. You also championed social causes through the Hero Foundation where we sent hundreds of children of our fallen soldiers to school.

 

After 8 years and 7 marathons, with over 100 thousand participants from all over the country and from the 4 corners of the World, we asked ourselves 1 question - How can we make the marathon much better in order to stay true to our vision? And the answer is to postpone the 2017 Marathon in order to give us more time to plan and execute a bigger and better marathon in the future.

 

We would like to thank our partners, Skyway, Asics, Asia Brewery, Run Rio and Hero Foundation for their support through the years. This race would not be possible without you. We would also like to thank our runners for their loyalty and support and for more importantly running to make our country a better place one step at a time!

Nakakalungkot na ang tanging tinatakbuhan kong marathon ay kanselado next year. pinag-iipunan at pinaghahandaan ko pa naman to.

anyway hanap muna ng ibang matatakbuhan. hehe

Sinalo n 7-11 ang Feb 5, 2017 Skyway Marathon. Pwede ka pa rin tumakbo sa Skyway, spirit220. Tsaka hakot ng near-expiration condoms at post race beer. hehehe

@floppydrive -- takbo ka ba jan pafs? baka yan nalang din takbohan ko next year since wala CSM

 

btw, 2weeks before gatorade run, medyo injured ang right knee ko :(

dapat tatakbo ako kahapon kaso sobra sakit tlaga (pag naka diretso ok lang, pag nakabend masakit). nagbball ako sunday and after maglaro, parang may slight inflammation sya

nagtake ako alaxan FR but no effect

any suggestions?

Naku, late na itong advice na ito:

 

Bugbog yung knee, so dapat ice siya kaagad. Pero dahil lagpas 24 hrs na, dapat warm compress na. Pahinga kailangan. Saan sumasakit? sa ilalim ng kneecap? o sa likod ng knee o paligid ng kneecap?

Kung sa ilalim ng kneecap, pwedeng runner's knee (fluid buildup sa joint), may burrs yung cartilage sa knee, torn cartilage, or ACL. Kung sa likod o paligid ng kneecap, pwedeng surrounding muscles ang inflamed.

 

Pinakamagaling ay ikunsulta sa sports medicine doctor, o sa orthopedic surgeon.

 

 

Hindi ko pa plano lumagpas ng 10km sa Feb, so pass na muna ako.

very minimal yung training ko for this run. pero compared dun sa SMDC wherein 12k eh pinulikat na ako, this time wala. I was also impressed na i was able to maintain somewhat good pace (atleast for me, around 8-9mins/km) upto the 15km mark. kaso dun na pumasok yun lack of training. kinakapos na ako sa hininga by that time. nde din nakatulong na walang mga hydration station nung 2nd time balik ng Buendia kasi nagkaubusan ng tubig (grrrrrrrr!). buti nalang may nakita ako kakilala (former workmate) na bandit runner (haha nagkataon na nagja-jog din sya sa area/route, tapos nakisabay nalang sa mga runners). ayun nagpabili ako tubig sa 7-11. sa sobra pagod (1) nde ko napatay yung relo ko after crossing the finishline at (2) nde ko nacheck yung actual size ng finisher shirt na binigay sakin. imbes na XL, they gave me Small :( badtrip. wala na din tubig sa finishline so yamot ako umalis. haha

 

Pros

++ nice singlet and FS

++ 2 medals for me. 1 for finishing 25k and 1 for completing the trilogy

++ nice route. patag/sementado sya, mix of uphill and downhill (nde nila pinababa sa Bayani Rd)

++ may photo certificate for those who completed the OYM trilogy

++ plenty of marshalls along the route

 

Cons

-- late nagstart yung event. gun start was supposed to be 4am. naka takbo kami ng 4:10am ata

-- masikip yung venue ng event

-- yung route medyo madaming intersection na dinaanan. hassle kung naghahabol ka ng PR

-- yung reklamo nung Leg1 na nagkakaubusan ng tubig sa hydration station, naulit na naman. yung iba meron nga tubig, nagkaubusan naman ng plastic cups. masakit nito, sa 25k runners pa nangyari :(

-- lack of portalets along the route. nag cr na ako sa gas station nung nde ko na matiis

-- instead of powerade/gatorade or pocari, namigay sila nung coco water ata yun. nde ko inubos, kasi baka masira tyan ko.

 

so ayun. if given a chance, baka nde na ako tumakbo sa future events. sablay 2 out of 3 events nila na nasalihan ko eh.

 

Next Target: Gatorade Run

 

 

Anjan ako paps. D ako nagmarshall nanood ako ng runners.. Naka park bike ko dun sa kanto before umakyat ng kalayaan flyover noon....

@idol floppydrive -- 2 sections may pain eh.. sa bandang front left side ng tuhod, then sa back right side din

masakit sya usually pag naka bend, which is olats kasi madalas nakaupo sa byahe

i'm planning to rest and take meds this week.. hopefully mawala yung swelling.. wish me luck! ^__^
