floppydrive
Grabe 7-11 Run1000! I guess they didn't expect to have so many participants. The route was flat and straight, but it was also narrow. From km3 to 8, it was only 1 lane plus shoulder wide. Ok lang nung first 13k ng 21k event, kasi lahat steady pace. Pagdating sa Km13, kasabay na 16k runners. Ok pa pero masikip na daan. Pagdating sa Km16 (last 5km), patay na at kasabay na super daming 10k WALKERS! Naging obstacle course tuloy. May pocari sweat, Gatorade, PowerAde, Tang, Selecta Ice Cream at SAN MIGUEL BEER!!!! Woohooo!
ppdd
7-Eleven 1000 Run21k in (unofficial) 3hrs 10mins certainly not my best run.. medyo matagal ata nabakante sa takbo kaya ayan, out of shape ahahaby the 8km mark, pinupulikat na ako by the 9km mark, wala na talaga.. kahit simpleng lakad eh tumataas yung maskels ko sa bintiso i had to walk and do stretching along the way (and apply a lot of omega)luckily, by the 13km mark, ayun pde na uli ako tumakbo/jogang medyo sablay lang is after ng 13km mark eh kokonti nalang yung hydration stations, wala din sagingnung last 2km na ata ako nakainom ng Pocari, by then eh pinupulikat na uli ako kasi nag-merge na halos lahat ng runners for all categories waahahahawala din saging, or hydration or even yung medal upon crossing the finishline finisher shirt one size and same design sa lahat ng participantsmahaba pila sa claiming ng lootbag at baggage (nag aasin na yung balat ko by the time na makuha ko yung lootbag)nde pa ako nakakuha ng EZ lubricants at Premiere condoms sa event.. malas tlaga the only thing na ok na ok during the run: the weather! malamig ang simoy ng hangin (pero mabantot in some parts of the route hahaha) need to get back into shape! pahinga lang onti then back to practice na congrats to all 7-eleven run participants/finishers! Is lack of water stations a common occurence? How about hydration systems like nathan or fuelbelt or camelbak? Yun daw kasi ung ginamit ni Andy potts nung nanalo siya sa Lake placid Iron man 2012 (feeling athlete) Currently i use a Nathan quickshot handheld 10 ounce. At tubig lang iniinom ko with a slice of lemon. Sakto lang para sa 10k runs ko. At kulang na kulang for a 21k Ang akin pong katanungan, 1. can you weigh in on hydration belts and handhelds? Kasi I've compared with prices of the speed2r sa Tobys and it was lower by at least 60%. 2,600 sa toby's at yung lowest sa sulit na speed2r is 1,000 petots 2. Will eating banana, gels or energy bars help speed me up or keep my mind sharper. Tumakbo na ako nang 21k sa probinsya with only gatorade and by the last 5k nag lo-log out na yung utak ko, mabagal na ako mag isip. Hindi ba pupulikatin ung tiyan ko niyan. Regarding hydration systems, nasa iyo kung ano gamay mo. If you are comfortable running 10km with the 10oz water bottle, running 21k with it should be ok. You can refill at water stations. All organized closed-off route races have water stations spread throughout the course usually at 1-3km distance between stations. If it's a Runrio event, water stations are about 1.5km apart. Greentennial Runner events are every 1km. Ultramarathons don't have water stations as each runner is required to provide his or her own support vehicle to carry food and water and whatever else the runner wants (cot, portalet, chairs, change of clothes, extra footwear (pati rubber slippers!), masahista, etc). Some runners wont bring a hydration system and just rely on the water stations. Some bring their own. It's really up to the runner on what he or she prefers and is used to. If the race is longer than one hour, food becomes a factor. Gels, energy bars and bananas will give you fuel for your body to burn. Sports drinks will replenish electrolytes lost and some sugar for fuel. How much to consume will again depend on what the runner. The advertisement of Gatorade that their 1.5 liter bottle is good for 1 hour of exercise is about right for male runners to replace lost electrolytes. You'll have to practice on what food is OK with you as you do your training. Eating while under stress from running may have different results compared to regular eating. Some food you are fine eating while sitting down may cause a bum stomach if consumed while running, so you'll have to try it before the race. Hope these help. Edited January 21, 2014 by floppydrive Quote Link to comment

Yup, medyo nakakangawit nga yung tubig sa kamay. On 10k it's not much of a bother but i imagine sa 21k kahit pa wala nang laman yan eh nakakairita na. Besides, i need a place to properly store my phone and keys, and i'm getting irritated with my armband. i might just buy that running belt. i meet up ko na lang ung seller. So i can probably recognize kung fake yun benta niya. Yup, i'm gonna try eating kamote or saging while I run. Pag me mabili ako ng murang gel, might as well try it. Sana mas maluwag luwag na yung daan sa NSL. depende sa results Nang NSL run ko, i'll then be training for the SUB1 challenge Edited January 21, 2014 by Confusedcius Quote Link to comment

My friend registered me sa financial fitness though, haha.. powtek hanggang dun palang ako sa sweat like a... http://media-cache-ec0.pinimg.com/236x/cb/e6/1a/cbe61a083aff521ac83ceb429be4448e.jpg  Another question po. A friend of mine likes to drink 2 aspirins 30 minutes before his run. Para daw hindi masakit tumakbo. Is this really okay? If I am to believe his heart rate monitor watch records, he does jog fast! Aspirin tabs may be okay for the "pain" but it can be bad for your blood viscocity... And may result in abnormal heart beats so i hope yourfriend has a physician's order on that... Especially that he is taking 2 tabs pre run. nakaregister na ako sa financial fitness run. sino tatakbo dito? kitakits *taas kamay* Quote Link to comment
ppdd
@Confusedcius -- try mo yung ifitness belts baka matripan mo. parang garterized yung pinaka belt nya so nde sya lumuluwag or nalalaglag when you are running. this is what it looks like...http://palmettostaterunner.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/04/IfitnessHydrationPack.jpgsayang nde itong model yung binili ko. walang bottles yung nabili ko pero meron kabitan ng bib numbersmeron naman nabibili na add-ons. may water bottles na pede mo i-kabit sa belt pero parang almost 1k yung 2 bottles (with holster) and yeah floppydrive is right in saying you should try the power gels in your practice runs first. testing mo muna kung hiyang yung tyan mo sa ganung brand/flavor. @idol wyette -- welcome back madam! Bossing!!! Re energy gels, pls take them through themouth ha... Not apply them on your legs or any body part. may naalala lang ako nakita sa RU last year. Also i would rather advise energy candies, jelly beans and such with high energy content. No need to take them with water. I feel like barfing nung nagtry ako. So kita kits sa NSL run? Quote Link to comment
Confusedcius
I already bought the speed2r and tested it out kagabi. Yup, it took me several tries to find the best placement. Dapat pala sa hips ilagay. After that ayun, feeling ko ako sa Andy Butts. It works great. Only issue is, siksik na siksik ung iphone ko sa pouch. Kasya pero siksik. Hmmm i also experimented with 1/4 Quaker granola bar kagabi, after the 45 minute mark. although, napadami ako nang inom nang tubig. http://media.outsideonline.com/images/GearGuy_NathanSpeed2R_04232012.jpg Edited January 22, 2014 by Confusedcius Quote Link to comment
kempaf
Run1000 - its my first time to join in a marathon congrats sa akin at natapos ko ang 21k hehehehehe Edited January 22, 2014 by kempaf Quote Link to comment
floppydrive
@Kempaf & @ppdd, Congrats on your 21k finish! Nasisira yung garter after about two+ years. Hi @wyette! Wow, another Ultra! "Malagkit" daw at hindi mainit. hehehe Quote Link to comment
