diabetes type 2 is the most common form of dm. before it was purely hereditary but now the main cause is acquired. because of the fastfood, change in lifestyle less regular exercise and balance diet, many people are becoming obese. The major risk factor of having diabetes in obesity. so if we want to avoid having this disease it is btter to always achieve our ideal body weight, eat a balance nutricious food and maintaining a regular exercise program. remember that DM is not curable, it is only controlled. If you have a family bhistory of DM you should be cautious about your weight and lifestyle. you may take herbal supplements like ampalaya plus together with your maintainance medication to maintain your normal blood sugar level.

Try to avail of the free book that ampalaya plus is offerring titled "what you should know about diabetes" and healthy way to filipino diet" it is very informative and very helpful especially in families who have a hard time in preparing food to their Diabetic family member.

just would like to add.. being a diabetic whether type 1 or 2.. twhats important is the prompt evaluation and treatment.. the compliance of the patient is very important in the early stages of diabetes.. constant follow ups are needed to adjust doses of the medications.. like for the type 2 or NIDDM, oral medications are helpful in the early stages of the disease but will be different 8-10 yrs after...which more often than not will warrant insulin treatments like in type 1. as for which in type 1 diabetes..insulin treatments are needed daily for proper body functioning..a thing to watch during this treatment is the bouts of hypoglycemia as in cases wherein the patient may get sick or have decrease feeding..this may cause hypoglycemia which is more dangerous than having high blood sugar... the insulin doses are tailored as for the needs of the patient but is not constant like for instance..the patient was not able to tolerate his/her present diet but still compliant to his insulin doses..this is detrimental since most of the patient was not aware that they could get very low sugar..as for this case may be...he should be advised by his/her physician what to do in such situations.. as for this.. the patient may also experience increased blood pressure as a compensatory mechanism due to decreased blood sugar which may be mistaken for just plainly high blood pressure..erroneus diagnosis and treatment will be detrimental to the health of the diabetic.. it is advisable to discuss to your doctors and ask questions regarding this just to make sure what to do in such cases..most patient are shy or was not able to inquire much regarding these things..hth.. just my two cents worth

i think its better to stick to your doctor na din.. but if youre really doubting your doctor you can always have a 2nd opinion to have peace of mind.. but diabetes is easily diagnosed thru clinical evaluation and lab confirmation...and the doctor will correlate this finding to arrive at a diagnosis...hes also a diabetic so the advantage of which is he can ask you questions that might happen in his personal experience which maybe quite accurate in your case...you can always discuss this to your doctor in case you have doubts in the tests he will be able to explain to you what you want to know.. hth

Is it true that if you have diabetes na kahit anong gawin mo eh talagang nahihirapan kang patigasin yung penis mo? Any remedy?

Well, studies have shown that about 75% of men with diabetes would eventually develop erectile dysfunction or impotence. Consequently, men with diabetes tend to develop erectile dysfunction earlier than those men who don't.

Erectile dysfunction involves the nerves, blood vessels and muscle function and unfortunately, diabetes affects these structures as well. Men with diabetes who have difficulty in achieving or maintaining erection could be prescribed meds like viagra or cialis. However, it is important to take these medications under the supervision of an MD since these meds may interfere with other medications. It is best to have a consult with a urologist so the appropriate therapy may be initiated.

to add lang to what mwah said, men with diabetes more likely also have a concurrent cardiac problem, and this is the most important consideration in dealing with medical therapy of ED in diabetics...

sildenafil a.k.a. viagra and similar drugs should only be taken with proper supervision of a cardiologist as these drugs potentially have an unwanted, dangerous side effect of causing a profound drop in blood pressure...

male diabetics should also be evaluated for cardiac disease before considering medical therapy for ED...

The use of magic beans po... Need pa po ba ng proper supervision of a cardiologist? And would Enduranz work?

Ano po magandang food supplement? dami kasing brand ng food supplements that lowers blood sugar... ano po yung the best?

to be honest i really don`t believe in using food supplements because as you know meron ngang disclaimer that says "no approved therapeutic claims"...

the manufacturers of these products are making tons of money from, i`m sad to say, gullible people who tend to take shortcuts when it comes to their health...

it would be much better if you will go natural, eat a healthy and balanced diet... you should get all the nutrition that you will need...

with regards to lowering blood sugar, eat lots of ampalaya, not supplements... the DOH endorses ampalaya and it`s been proven in numerous scientific studies to help control blood sugar...

I met with a very beautiful girl yesterday... To my disappointment my "thing" won’t stand up... Badtrip... nakakahiya.

Ask ko lang po... if maging normal yung blood sugar ko would my "thing" be back to normal? Or is it the EnD na talaga?

One more thing, is it ok na sabihin sa cardiologist na kaya ako nag pa check up is coz im planning to take viagra kasi diabetic ako? Para kasing nakakahiya.
