Droidz1979
Congrats Lakers for another win! Dude, you lost? Finally, they beat the crap out of the Pistons with the score of 79 vs 101. Amare topscored with 17 points, 8 rebounds, 2 assit and 2 blocks while followed by Chandler with 15 points, a beastly 17 rebounds, 2 assist, 2 steaks and 1 block; Melo also had 15 points, 3 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 steal, JR Smith led the bench with 14 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assist and 1 steal; J-Lin had 13 points, 3 rebounds, 3 assist, 2 steals and 7 TO's (the bad part). The downside for the game is that Amare strained his back early in the third and did not return for the rest of the game. Hopefully it wasn't that bad that he could still play on their next game against the Bucks which is a critical game since they're only ahead by a few points for the 8th spot who just lost today against the same Indiana team that the Knicks mopped on a back-to-back home-and-away game. Add to the fact that Amare has been playing like a beast for the past games since D'Antoni got fired, good thing Melo picked up the scoring slack on the third while the bench gave the starters the much needed rest on the 4th. Jared Jeffries is also out for at least 2 weeks for an inflamed knee so I guess taking a charge for a living does take a toll on ones body Go Knicks! Quote Link to comment

Droidz1979
And the Knicks just further narrowed the gap by beating the Bucks with the score of 89 vs 80. Amare (bulging disk at the back) and J-Lin (sore right knee) did not play this game who were rested after suffering some injuries on the prior game. Good thing Melo showed up tonight and scored 28 points, grabbed 12 boards, dished 1 assist, had 1 steal and 1 block; Tyson Chandler had 13 points, 9 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal and 1 block; Baron Davis who started in place of J-Lin scored 13 points, grabbed 5 rebounds, dished 7 dimes, had 1 steal but also had 9 TO's (the bad); Iman Shupert had 11 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assist and 1 steal; bench was again led by JR Smith with 9 points, 10 rebounds, 2 assist and 1 steal. The key for the game again is defense having limited Monta Ellis to 4 points while Jennings only scored 15 ; Mike Dunleavy topscored for 26 points but had zero points in the fourth quarter where games are supposed to be decided. The depth of the Knicks finally showed tonight also as even though the Knicks lost its top offense and playmaker in Amare and J-Lin, the rest of the squad picked-up the slack while Melo took care of the rest. Still, you'd hope that the two get back soon as they next play the Orlando and each win/loss matters to its play-off position aspirations. Go Knicks! Quote Link to comment

BreakAndInsert6977
Give them a year together, and they'll be deadly... Quote Link to comment
Droidz1979
At least now they have that defense first mentality (currently ranked 5th on the league from being the 21st prior to Woodson's take-over as coach) as the offense would easily follow with its deep line-up that gives it various looks and options and features the likes of Melo, JR Smith, Novak, Shump, Chandler, Baron Davis and Jorts irregardless of the absence of J-Lin and Amare. Yes i'd agree that they'd be deadly next year, provided that the core will be retained and that would be a big if. I think retaining J-Lin will be feasible, but the likes of JR Smith and Novak might be difficult. Hopefully, they do stay with the lure of a big market and the chance to win it all while Baron Davis remains healthy and at the vet's. min. salary. For me, now might be its best chance as their are certain uncertainties/unknown for next year and the fact that J-Lin's injuries ain't that bad could help. However, they do need Amare healthy and productive and am keeping my fingers crossed that he get's to recover in time for the play-offs and totally pain-free. It's also a good timing for Melo to pick-up his game based on the fact that the team needs him more now more than ever and that they need to continue winning to have a chance that they move up and better the record of Boston and Philadelphia to get the division tittle and automic 4th place berth that gives automatic home-court edge and a chance to not play the Heat or the Bulls. On to the current win streak, go Knicks! Quote Link to comment
