We have been to Ilo-ilo for a vacation last year that lasted for a week. We first visited the Raymen's Resort in Guimaras and stayed there for 3 days and 2 nights, and then rented a 2 days, 2 nights accommodation in one of the pension houses in Ilo-Ilo City.

Raymen resort: 8/10 - The resort is a typical resort with houses/rooms that extends to the front beach area. You can cook your own food or you can have them cook for you.

-What we did is we went outside the resort and ordered a "cook to order menus" from the eateries just next to Raymen. The food there is very cheap. for only P250 you can have a kg of seafood (Crabs, fish, shrimp etc.) cooked for you.

-Another option is,... in the morning, noon, and afternoon, there are fishermen in front of the eateries selling their freshly caught fishes. You can buy fishes and have it cooked. It costs us 250 to 300 for a kilo of fish/ crab and / or shrimp and then free cook from the eateries (Free cook because these fishermen are also the owners of the eateries. It is their side business aside from catching fish and selling it to the market)

-The beach is not that explorative and it only limits you to like 10 meters away. There are floating ropes around the resort that says you cannot go further beyond the ropes, it has nets underneath it as well. The reason is, the part beyond the ropes are sharp stony floors and corals that can easily bruise and cut your skin. Most part of the beach cannot be explored because of that.

Pension House: 10/10 - The "Family Pension House" we stayed in is an old "Jose Rizal" antique looking house with spooky individual paintings on the wall of the family members who were long gone. That's the fun part for me haha

But the feeling of sleeping in an authentic antique house is I think was the best part. Having that said, 80 percent of the house is wood and the air inside the house is cool.

Just outside the house, (Still inside the house's lawn) there was an old house that they have converted into a mini bar. I am not sure if anyone here have been there, but I already forgot name of the acoustic bar. The bar is a floor seated bar wherein you literally sit in the floor. You will only see floor tables and big pillows for you to sit on (this is to promote comfort and the feeling that you are at home). The Bar's theme is the same antique bahay kubo with Bamboos and such. The acoustic bar has band instruments, sound systems and LED TVs.

The next day we just roamed around Ilo-ilo City and bought "Biscochos" from the Biscocho house. And finally on our last At night, we went to the clubs and partied all night. (Guess what, There is a place nearby that exactly looks like the MetroWalk in Ortigas!)

I recommend to you guys staying in Ilo-Ilo City when you get a chance to. Experience is 9/10
