gonefishing
Po, kuya, Ate is only used mainly in Tagalog. Other regions have their own words to be used for respect like Manong for Ilocano. Quote Link to comment

clarksteel
"po" should be used everytime you want to be courteous in a tagalog conversation. "koyah" - i have no idea how this is used. siguro pag gusto mo ipaamoy yung hininga mo sa kausap mo. parang "hi koyahhhhhh.." sa mukha ng kausap mo. Quote Link to comment
john2004
sina Tito, Vic & Joey yata nagsimula yang "KUYA" TRENDna yan, O.K lang, imbes na tawaging "MAMA" ang nakakatandanglalaki, eh magaan naman sa tainga yung "KUYA". Quote Link to comment
jumpman611
only use them in the proper context and spelling... otherwise, it never fails to annoy. Quote Link to comment

hottlipss
i find it annoying when someone uses "po" to me on texts and emails...prang condescending ang dating but i teach my kids to say po, opo, kuya and ate, manang, manong (wali or ading) and of course mag mano as a sign of respect...and of course any filipino they encounter with are all "titas" and "titos"kahit man lang yung kultura nating yun gusto kong maibahagi sa kanila. maui25
i used po and koyah sa ibang tao, or outside the house, depende rin sa kausap mo, usually sa mga elders nalang talaga, sometimes kc pag nararamdaman ko na naiirita un kausap ko when i use po at koyah i stop... some people kc want them to be treated as magka age level lang kayo, alam mo na, ageless na kc ang mga tao ngayon... hindi mo na ma distinguish ang age, maliban nalang sa mga aged na talaga (pasintabi po) Quote Link to comment
