Titojunjunnegroni
Oh and bring comfortable footwear. The kind of footwear that you can use all day! And bring salonpas. Its much cheaper here. You'll be needing it because you'll be walking a looooot. Don't forget to visit DonQui or Don Quixote for the pasalubongs and such. Sometimes, I buy my dinner here since its way cheaper and the taste isn't that bad. Ifs actually delish. Quote Link to comment
gyros
You need the wifi! When I traveled alone, I purchased one pocket wifi from the airport and used the complimentary pocket wifi too. If you've been to New York or France, Japan railway stations are easy peazy. But you have the wifi to get around anyway! Another challenge is the language barrier. No matter how lost you are, they can really just speak minimal english so you have to make do with Google. that's great... I've been to France and am a New Yorker (just vacationing in October to visit friends and former GF) so i guess the subway system will be easy as you said thank you for all the info and it is truly helpful enjoy your day Quote Link to comment

going to Tokyo late October - saan ok and affordable mag stay?nabasa ko sa Shinjuku ang best - totoo ba?madali ba mag commute para mamasyal? tips naman dyan...Salamat most of the Air BnBs we've been to are pretty affordable naman and the hosts are very helpful. Shinjuku alone has a lot to offer already. if you want a bustling area, this is a good start. limited English, but still very helpful … they will even bring you to the nearest train station you need to go to. re commuting - pocket wifi/mifi will help a lot. used google maps for both commuting and walking directions.one thing we learned, iPhone maps - actually tells you which platform to go or to exit when you use the train system.so we alternate between the two apps. Unwritten
If you have 7 days. Consider buying a Japan Rail Pass (Exclusive to visitors and only available and sold outside of Japan) "https://www.japan-rail-pass.com/jr-pass" (Buy it online or from a Japan Airlines Ticketing office or affiliated travel & tours. Gives you unlimited access to all trains including shinkansen (up to express but not the super express). Use the JR website for very accurate and highly efficient trip planning from all points in Tokyo to anywhere in Japan. a. The convenience and cost of round trip Narita Express from Tokyo Central to Narita Airport alone is worth it.b. Take a day trip to Mt Fuji - There's a step by step train/Shinkansen guide somewhere in shutterbugs thread. c. Take a day trip to Kyoto - Old world japan with temples/shrines and Geisha'sd. Take a day trip to Hiroshima - A different take on touring but will live a lasting impression guaranteed. e. Take a day trip to Osaka - For culinary experience (It's dubbed the Nation's Kitchen) and shopping. Osaka castle is also worth visiting.e. With the remaining days. Go around Tokyo and the other cities within and around Tokyo. (Shibuya, Ginza, Marunouchi, Roppongi, Akihabara, Harajuko, etc). Cheers! 1 Quote Link to comment
