sinnerman
Retirement plans from employers are good if you are planning to stay long in a company. It is, however, better to supplement this benefit with your own plan or plans. Quote Link to comment
gzorros
Yup, you should join a company sponsored retirement plan. Some are generous enough to match your contribution. Plus the plan is normally managed by Intitutional fund managers that offer premium service which you cannot normally get as an individual. Quote Link to comment

To say that National Life insures the amount invested is an assurance when something bad happens TO THE INSURED. To say that PDIC insures the amount is an assurance for when something bad happens TO THE BANK. Quote Link to comment
Talley
Good day Redshift, There is no single "correct" answer to your question. Simply put, the "best" pension plan for you would depend on the following factors: 1. First, how old are you? When would you like to avail of the pension? How long would you want it to continue?2. How big a pension would you like? How much can you afford? Will you pay one-time? Annually? Monthly?3. Do you just want a cash benefit? Or would you like some insurance coverage as well?4. Lastly, how much risk can you accept? Simply put, the higher your desired payout and the shorter the time to availment, the higher the risks and costs. Once you have answered those questions, then people like Dr. Pepper can give you a better lead as to what is suited. Just remember though that no product is the "best" at everything... It all depends on your particular needs and risk profile. Hope that helps. Carpe Noctem. Quote Link to comment
