Dreaming To Be A Famous Photographer

I ALWAYS welcome criticism sa work ko, that's one way to improve kasi eh.

marami ako nakabangaan na fellow photographers. I even got hauled to a barangay "lupon" sometime last month kasi I criticised a photography teacher for saying "mas malakas ang flash output pag nag shoot ka in portrait mode kesa landscape orientation ang camera" hahahaha.

lols :D sana hiningian mo ng pruweba tapos dun mo tinira...

personally, i also welcome criticism IF i asked for it pero yung ibang photog hindi marunong makaintindi. And yes, i am being mean pero totoo naman.

Sila din yung mga tumatahimik lang kasi they let their works speak for themselves instead.

How true.

Had an experience once sa photog forum. I posted an image and yung nag C&C sabi sakin, di niya magets yung image. Yada yada yada.

Kesyo walang value, walang message, etc etc etc. Pag silip ko sa mga posts

Haaaaaaayyyy!

This is why I never show my best shots to anyone ng basta basta. Yung mga magaganda kong tira pinapakita ko lang dun sa organizer ng shoot na sinalihan ko at sa mismong model nung shoot - both of them ARE actually in the modelling industry, tied sila sa agency so if there's anyone who have the right to critic my shots, its them. Mahal ang singil nila sa per head kada shoot pero ok lang at kahit brutal sila kumatay sa mga kuha ko oks lang din kasi they actually know what they're saying. And for some reason, they never shot me down, i actually get praises from them hindi yung puro "like" lang sa photo tapos they even ask for the hi-res of my shots to put it in their comp card.

Ah yes, ang walang kamatayang vignette. It's not that I hate the effect I actually use it myself pero dapat may pinakikibagayan din talaga. Sabi ko nga sa isang post ko somewhere here in mtc na kahit gaano kapanget ang isang tira mas lalo lang papanget pag pinotoshop. Uso sa mga FB pinoy photog groups yung mga theme of the day tapos makita-kita mo merong magpopost ng igorot na napaka-smooth ng balat - i was like WTF? kelan pa naging flawless ang balat ng isang matandang igorot na nakabahag di ba? tapos lalagyan pa ng lens flare... anak ng.. gagamit ka lang din naman ng filter aba'y gamitin naman yung ayon sa tira at ayusin naman ang pagtimpla hindi yung basta iaactivate mo lang tapos lalaruin mo yung sliders then tapos na.

Sunday Share: (naks, talagang may theme hanggang dito) :D

From my first ever photoshoot/workshop back in SG. Coming from doing macro and stills, this was my first time venturing in beauty/glamour shoots back then. I got so giddy with my outputs (90+ raw shots in about 2 hours of shoot) I practically went wild in post process and experimented on whatever filters I could get my hands on. After burning nearly about 4 hours of my day off processing just a single shot, in the end, simplicity got over me and this was my final output for this shot. ;)

Gears I used for this was my sony a35 with tamron 90mm macro lens, ambient lighting (10am on a saturday) and reflector was also used. Shot in full manual mode and in RAW. Originally post processed using photoshop on a macbook pro so if you're viewing this photo on a windows computer or non-apple device wag ka na magtaka kung medyo malabnaw ang kulay. Pero if you are actually viewing this on an apple device then colors might come out vibrant and yet, not overly saturated. Now I understand why post processing is preferred using a mac computer, mas litaw ang colors kahit na naka default calibration ang monitor mo.

Prior to posting this, I had to crop out the excess frame bec I need to remove my original watermark that bears my full real name on it and replace it with my MTC ID all over the photo instead.

as long as properly calibrated ang monitor, no issues, be it Mac or Windows-based.

mahabang diskusyon to sa color correction, profile, etc.

I personally use a hackintosh on IPS panels :-)

This was before when I was still using windows for post pero nung nagkaron na ko ng MBP at dun ko sinubukan mag post process nagtaka ako bakit karamihan ng mga dating edited shots ko naging malabnaw ang kulay so I researched about it. Dun ko ngayon naintindihan ang calibration. I honestly wanted to try those pero hassle lang para sa kin kasi hobby ko lang naman to and I dont do this for a living kaya I just resorted it to default ever since.

For me, as long na tama lang ang exposure ko sa shots ko ok na yun. Minsan naman pag tinamaan ako ng katamaran while in the middle of post processing lalo na pag trip ko isalba yung isang shot na medyo panget ang tira, dinadaan ko na lang sa cropping tapos convert ko sa grayscale then oks na haha... yung tira ko na yan sa taas is actually one of my bad shots kasi alanganin ang angle ko dyan so I just cropped from shoulders and above tapos konting timpla eh di gumanda pa hehehe... para-paraan na lang yan eh. :P

am not really a good photographer, still learning, wanna do sexy photography. half nude to full nudes. i guess, need special gadgets and gorgeous models... haaayz, time and budget...

Find a really good model hindi yung sino-sino lang.

Start ka muna sa sexy or portraits then saka mo targetin yung ideal folio mo. Maganda kasi pag meron kang mapapakita na model photoshoots kasi malakas magpa gwapo ng folio yan.

I love photography. Wish I could wish to be a "famous" photographer...

but no. I just want to be a really good one.

I used to frequent photography groups and forums but I just usually see people stroking each others' egos to feel fulfilled; or beating down others just to feel superior. It's sad. Social media has taken away a lot of the art for the sake of popularity and filling in that soul-hole we all have. I can't advise, C&C, and/or any of those intellectual stuff other artists do :( maybe I'm not cut out to be an artist, after all ...

Right now, I'm still into photography, but I just take pics for taking pics' sake. If I have my camera with me, I will take pics of things I think are beautiful, the way I see them (not necessarily how the world sees 'em).

Unsolicited advice lang: Do what I do - I just shoot for myself. This helped me enjoy photography more and motivated me to keep shooting dati.

I don't typically like to show my folio to others, personal preference lang talaga. No matter how much you pretend or lie to yourself na hindi ka nagpapaapekto sa comments ng iba maapektuhan ka pa rin in a way kaya dapat sanayin mo sarili mo na wag mag post ng mga kuha mo in public lalo na kung unsure ka mismo on how others might see it.

It's ok to envy them, normal lang yan at kahit ako pinagdaanan ko yan nung nagsisimula ako tumira kasi I am always looking around for inspiration pero wag na wag kang manggagaya para lang may mapakita ka - just keep your head down and ituloy mo lang yung trip mo gawin.

for me, i'll ALWAYS be in photography.

Why?

Because the reason I puchased a DSLR is to take better pics of my FAMILY.

So as long as nandyan ang reason na yan, di ako matitigil sa hobby na to.

Bonus nalang siguro yung paminsan-minsang event gigs, etc.
