Meron akong ganito from BDO. US$ denominated. Got in in 2006. Did well for 2 years. By 2008, wala nang halos kita. Investment Value did not appreciate much from 2007 levels. Hold na lang ako ngayon pero am looking for a better place to put my funds.

If it's a Dollar Bond Fund, September 2008 would have been the lowest level and it should have rallied to it's previous 2007 level by around April this year.

I have both the Dollar Bond Fund and Dollar Money Market Fund. Thanks for the insight on the Dollar Bond Fund. Challenge is that this means my money did not grow from 2007 value over the past year and a half. Might be a good time to liquidate and reinvest in a different vehicle.

My dear dr pepper,

I may have some excess cash this fourth quarter, any suggestions where I may put it?

That's a good option sir, just don't liquidate at a loss, timing is everything here.

Ah where have you been going sir? If it's fourth quarter, and assuming your cash is in PHP, I suggest you go short term and just cross over till January of the next year. Most banks window dress for the end of year and will usually offer higher rates around the middle of December. As to long term placements, if you have cash now, try to purchase RTBs (Retail Treasury Bonds) in 3 or 5 year tenors that will be issued this month.

Dr_PepPeR,

invested in Sun Life Equity UITF a couple of years back.

now, i'm still @ a 20% loss.

the people there keep telling me it's a long term investment.

minimum 5 years to see results.

this true?

thanks... B)

They should have told you that before you invested. Technically Sun Life Equity is a Mutual Fund and they have been doing better than some of the other equity funds out there. That said, just wait for the NAV to reach your subscription NAV and then get out and invest somewhere else except if you really are a long-termer.
