Boelcke
I have no excuse except to say that I'm a military brat. One of my dreams is to model the Philippine Marines vehicles. I already have an LVTP 5 with resin interior, a 6x6 truck, Kennedy and Willys jeeps, Humvees and now the Cadillac Gage V-150. I'm still working on the references but I've already viewed Oppus' website and will get in touch soon with Gen. Martir. Have you seen their latest digital camo? That'll make your eyes strain. Quote Link to comment

bugoy2004
wow great scale mods i wanted to ask if this hobby would be advisable for a college student? looks interesting we encourage you to try it sir. you can start with kits below P500. there are Tamiya and Trumpeter 1/35 armor kits that have few parts but have nice detail. There are also 1/72 scale aircraft kits from Academy below P500 if you fancy fighter jets. here's a link on scale modeling if you need some background before taking the plunge hehehe. i see your from the South. where exactly? maybe we can help you out http://www.scalemodelguide.com/guide/basic/ Edited July 17, 2009 by bugoy2004 Quote Link to comment

Boelcke
Which ones, the BDUs or the AFVs? Both. But honestly, I dont care much about the BDUs. Its digital, yes, but not in a good way. The Marpat and Cadpat have color lumps that, when looked at from a distance, allows the camo to blend into the environment, in the same way that digital photos tend to smooth out as you zoom out. The Phil Marine digital camo has pixels, but they dont have color lumps. The pixels are so evenly scattered it makes the fabric look grainy, thats all. The digital camo on the AFVs look a little better. I dont know how effective it is, though, taking into consideration the color combination itself. Quote Link to comment
bugoy2004
excellent pieces as always Herr Boelcke! i got the 1/72 Raptor from HB recently. i couldn't keep my hands off it so i test fitted the fuselage just to see if it had fit problems. i ended up building the thing. so far, it's a nice build. just finished painting the interior of the bomb and gear bays. i guess next would be the cockpit. jeez i haven't even finished the Hornet yet and i start another kit. might end up finishing both at the same time. happy modeling everyone! I know what you mean Herr Boelcke, but while I think the PMC digital camo looks OK, everyone seems to have gone overboard with digital camo. http://i104.photobucket.com/albums/m162/doctorpep/0A33.jpg http://i104.photobucket.com/albums/m162/doctorpep/0PICT0686.jpg http://i104.photobucket.com/albums/m162/doctorpep/0IMG_0427-digi2.jpg http://i104.photobucket.com/albums/m162/doctorpep/0PICT0731.jpg http://i104.photobucket.com/albums/m162/doctorpep/A31.jpg But honestly, I think it would be cool if I could build some of these. Boelcke
Doc, A clubmate of mine made a model of the current digital camo V-150. Ill try to link pics of that build into this thread. Have you seen the limited edition Hobby Boss V-150 with special resin turret and Phil Army markings? Youre right, everyone's gone gaga over digital. Quote Link to comment

I haven't seen that particular kit yet Herr Boelcke, maybe Lil has been keeping it for her more avaricious customers. Would love to see the built up V-150, as I'm curious which type of camo he based it on. Have you seen any plastic kit of the V-300? BTW more examples of digital derangement: http://i104.photobucket.com/albums/m162/doctorpep/A18.jpg http://i104.photobucket.com/albums/m162/doctorpep/SV301598.jpg http://i104.photobucket.com/albums/m162/doctorpep/A19.jpg 1/1 model painting. Boelcke
Hehehe! Funny seeing Marines wearing digital age camo but carrying Vietnam-era weapons. The really funny thing is seeing them actually spray digital camo on their boonie hats. I hope this works. These are the pics of the digital V-150 a clubmate of mine made: http://i238.photobucket.com/albums/ff172/olibuli/IMG_3519.jpg http://i238.photobucket.com/albums/ff172/olibuli/IMG_3520.jpg Well, not to boast or anything, the Hobby Boss Phil Army V-150 kit is a special edition kit especially made by Hobby Boss for IPMS-Bert Anido. I think only a few hundred were made, and all of them were sent here. I havent touched mine, really. Im taking my time before I start work. I actually bought 2; one to build and another to keep as a memento. Ill show it to you one of these days. Quote Link to comment

I just want to see how the digital camo was executed. Sure would like to see that kit one of these days. Quote Link to comment
steiner
That new digital camo looks like a uglier version of flecktarn... NOt a particularly nice combination of colors if you ask me. Quote Link to comment

I dont think its even green enough. Might work if the trees and foliage are a hundred meters behind you, but if youre crawling around in the bush... Doc, Sure. Lets set a meeting one of these days and Ill let you see the kit. Ill ask my clubmate for bigger pics. Ako Im getting a headache just staring at it. :goatee: Quote Link to comment

Some of the comments I read in the net regarding the digital camo: Q: Why are the weapons also painted in digital camo?A: So the rebels will have a hard time looking for it after the ambush. Q: Why does the SAF/PNP use dark grayish blue patches on their camo?A: So they won't be noticed when they fall drunk on the bar floor. Q: Why are the guns and boonie hats painted in camo?A: You know what they say in the military, if it moves, salute it; if it doesn't, paint it! Sure, Herr Boelcke, let's set it up one of these days.
