I am starting this thread for those who are interested in doing business in China.

I heard that it is far from homogenous though. There are progressive areas and places that seem frozen in time. Maybe we could have a more detailed discussion here.

what do you mean by doing business in china? doing as in you're based in the mainland or more like trading with guys from the mainland?

 

if your doing the first one, & suppose you'd be based in the mainland, you have to know at least a little of the language. mandarin so its universally understood specially by the business sector. then you have to have a guangxi, plus all the requisites of a regular business profile. capitalization could be minimal for manufacturing business but others, i don't know. government regulations are just regular like philippine standard except for monetary fluctuation issues. its prohibited to send out dollars out of china or profit from the fluctuation of it. this can be arrange with simple regulations & procedures. whew, daming gagawin, but if you are really interested, you can ask some guys doing it now in china, like some filipino guys doing it good in hongkong then they transfer their operations in shenzhen.

Actually I wanna penetrate the Internet/web potential of china. The internet is booming all over the world,China has almost 1/4 the population of the world. Imagine................whew sarap

ok if anyone knows anyone there in china or at least speak the language as one of our friend is in this forum, then everything is set. i have the perfect business idea to pursue with minum fuss or none at all.. click below pls..

Doing business in china is not as easy as you imagine it to be. Firstly you have

to speak their language. That is Mandarin. If you do not know, forget it. Most

likely you will be cheated. Yes there is a lot of business potential but you just have

to be careful with the people there.

Just this little insight.

 

China is now both a superpower (yes it is; even the US won't mess with it now) and an economic power. But doing business with China isn't that easy because it has a system that is both capitalistic and socialistic. That means you have to deal with a stubborn bureacracy, even in purely business matters.

 

Some years ago, when some colleagues and I were discussing how to penetrate the Chinese market for a particular project, one rather elderly participant gave all the negative aspects of opening a business in China, particularly as it involved the government (he had actual experience). We were all peeved, because we wanted to be positive. In the end, he was proven right.

 

The truth is, China doesn't need anyone. It can dictate its terms.

I was toying with the idea lately of bringing in some products from China, but honestly I don't have the connections. I'm made to believe that anything is worth a lot less if it comes form China.
