Well ... most of the time

I think a good NLE bay in conjuction with a very creative editor would produce the best results. I mentioned NLE bay and not the application itself which one may have the luxury of using. Because no matter what, be it Ulead, Premiere Pro, Vegas, FCP, Avid or even a Quantel. As long the hardware doesn't jive with the system as a whole, even a very seasoned editor won't be doing anything for a while ... sometimes these things happen once in a while.

Although it may sound like a very good complement that a Segment Producer especially in a Network environment, would not sit beside a good editor after he or she had left certain instructions along with the shot-listed script. It is done most out of necessity, overlapping of a certain shoot and eventual build-up of confidence and trust towards the quality of work done by the editor itself. Never the less it is still the task of the Segment Producer to accompany the editor when editing a VTR, just imagine how would a PUM react if he or she knew his or her Segment Producers were acting that way towards their editors.

Also in most cases if something goes wrong it is usually the poor editor who gets the blame, nothing beats teamwork, two sets of eyes are better than one when looking for revisions and even processors these days work in pairs too ...

Pro editors guys, may tanong ako. Im just starting up my own little business of photo and video editing. Since Im a newbie to such, anong mga programs ba recommended niyo for starters? Im familiriazing myself to Windows Movie Maker hehe sensiya na noobs nga e. ^_^

you can also try the latest Vegas from Sony. With it you can alreay import pix.sa lumang versions kasi hindi pwede.it's user friendly and easy to navigate.later on, you can move on to adobe premiere PRO2. for editing sounds, you can either use Vegas or Sound Forge of Sony. i would recommend Sound Forge dahil mas in control ka kapag ng edit & marami ang built in effects that you can play around with.

HUH?!?! UNSTABLE?!?!

Maybe your not really a video editor?! VEGAS are for noobs.

just my 2 cents

your right, im not really a vid editor (by profession).. sideline lang sakin to  excuse me if i offended your professional standpoint about Premiere Pro.. :hypocritesmiley:

but again, let me share my experience with the said software..

When i was working on a project before i encountered a prob with my saved files.. so i ended opening up the autosaved ones.. that cost me about 2 hours of work and i was on a tight deadline, it also happened couple of times before that so i switched to vegas and im still ok with it (though i want to get my hands on final cut pro).

just a piece of my perspective.

sideline as video editor? home based i supposed so... so i guess you were able to purchase a $600 software?

are you using an orginal software? I DOUBT!

not exactly, i used my client company's workstation, though i want to do it at home, i can't.. had to sign a disclosure agreement for that project.. the company's one of the biggest petrol company in the world so i guess they paid for their software.. i just requested to be transferred to a workstation that has Vegas installed after i encountered a prob with premiere..

Like what i said with my previous post "Dont Make Money Making Using Cracked Software"

i salute you for that.. but personally, i won't pay for software that i won't be able to use all year round..

which brings me to this question, do you use licensed Windows at home?

guys, patulong naman. magcoconvert sana ako ng .avi files to dvd format para maburn ko sa dvd para maplay sa dvd players so i can watch it on TV. lam niyo po ba yung minimum video at audio bitrate na kailangan kong ilagay sa video converter para maging same quality lang sya sa mga binebenta sa quiapo na mga TV series na kasya 1 buong season sa 1 DVD-9? by the way, DVD-5 lang yung gagamitin kong pangburn kaya mga 2 DVDs sana gagamitin ko para sa 1 season. Tnx in advance. =)
