Cal!
Suns PF Amare Stoudemire recently suggested he likely won't return to the court until March at the earliest, well within the original time frame the team set for his return from microfracture surgery. Still, the best-case scenario most often presented for Stoudemire's return was mid-February. Result: an air of disappointment in Phoenix. . . . (source from Yahoo Sports) Quote Link to comment
Cal!
Jazz PF Carlos Boozer suffered another setback last week when he felt something tighten in his left hamstring. The hope was that Boozer, who hasn't played since February 14, might be returning just about now. Instead, it will be a few more weeks. In other words, the theory that Boozer, who was criticized by Utah owner Larry Miller late last season, will never play again for the Jazz still is a valid one. . . . agentjackbauer
Matt Buser (Yahoo) Those of you who have Amare Stoudemire stashed away on your bench (he's owned in over 97 percent of Yahoo! leagues) should have particular interest in the comments he made over the weekend. Stoudemire told ESPN.com on Friday that he doesn't expect to be able to return until at least March, saying that he and the team are striving for a goal of "two months out" from now. He also said that the option to wait until next season to return is still there as well, citing the fact that, while he wants to win a championship and feels the current Suns team is very close, his health is the most important thing to him right now. The entire organization has stressed that Stoudemire wouldn't be rushed back under any circumstance, even if he appeared ahead of schedule at any point. Now would be a good time to reconsider your situation if you are holding Amare in your league – it's likely that he will only be active for around the final six weeks of the season, and he will undoubtedly be eased back into the rotation at a snail's pace as more of a tuner for the playoffs. If you have the roster space, it may be worth hanging onto him until the picture becomes more clear, but if you are counting on his late production to pull your team up from some kind of hole, it seems more and more likely that you will be disappointed. cheeselogger
The News (from fanball)After missing his second game in a row on Saturday because of a bruised right hip, Elton Brand is out indefinitely, reports the Los Angeles Times. "When he tried to run up and down [saturday in practice], he couldn't do it," coach Mike Dunleavy told the Times. "It bothered him enough to where he said no go. He could run, but it hurt." Our ViewBrand unexpectedly missed the Clippers game on Tuesday because of the injury, but had indicated earlier this week that he'd return on Saturday, but that obviously didn't happen. Brand played 81 games last season, but missed at least 13 games in each of the previous two seasons. The Clippers are clearly taking it slow with their leading scorer and rebounder, and his situation seems ambiguous enough that you should do likewise. If you feel like rolling the dice, the Clips do have four games next week.<{POST_SNAPBACK}> Brand just had a monster game against the Jazz. His statline was: 35 Pts, 14 Rebs, 7 Blks, 4 Assts, 2 stls, 1 TO, 2 PF, 10/24 FGs and 15/17 FTs why does someone injured like him plays like that way? why aren't my injured/hobbled players play like that way?
