ayasadai
The Lakers have acquired Pau Gasol in a three-player trade with the Grizzlies, SI.com has confirmed. The deal, which was first reported by the Memphis Commercial Appeal, sends Gasol to the Lakers for Kwame Brown, Javaris Crittenton, Aaron McKie and first-round picks in 2008 and 2010. The Grizzlies also will receive the draft rights to Pau's brother Marc, the Lakers' second-round pick in the 2007 draft. Quote Link to comment

gwapogi
wow... kobe, lamar and pau... smells like david stern all over... ...or cash cutting, whatever applies best... Quote Link to comment
cheeselogger
the Bears didn't get too screwed, they got a lot of expiring contracts, a couple of first round picks and rookie sensation (given enough PT) Crittenton. though a Conley, Lowry and Crittenton backcourt doesn't make much sense except when Kyle or Javaris will be converted to a combo guard like JCN... gift_of_game
^yeah, I got that. I actually said more of the same in the Lakers thread.it's not that bad for a cash-strapped club like the Grizz if we're thinking long-term---provided of course that they get to make all the right moves in between. it just tends to eat at me thinking whether there was a better deal out there for them. anyway, moving on... Lakers-Celtics finals?!?!?! pwedeng pwede! Edited February 2, 2008 by gift_of_game Quote Link to comment
cheeselogger
I'm going with a Phoenix - Detroit finals being this an even-numbered year so the Spurs would find some way to suck come April... Quote Link to comment

gift_of_game
^this is why the micro franchises have a thing or two to say to Stern, he just doesn't dole out the same kind of love to them. haha! Quote Link to comment

cheeselogger
if LA gets Kidd, then I'm gonna start believing the conspiracy theories... ... except that the NY Knicks still suck... hehehe Quote Link to comment
gift_of_game
want more trippy ideas? the biggest reason why Stern can't mess with the Knicks is `coz, according to some sources, Stern still owes Zeke bigtime.for what?well, as you all well know, Zeke chaired the CBA for a while (some say that he acted as Stern's agent in this whole affair) and successfully put it out of business. and in doing so, this paved the way for the NBA to put up its very own D-League. I don't believe this hand-me-down tale either but it's out there... Quote Link to comment
agentjackbauer
I have Darko and Lamar. Milicic should get a boost in value while Lamar takes a hit. I dont know if I should be happy or not. Maybe Gasol's arrival will free Lamar up? Or am I just dreaming? Edited February 2, 2008 by agentjackbauer Quote Link to comment
bubuy
or lamar can swap addresses with kidd.. Quote Link to comment
agentjackbauer
Exactly what I was hoping for:-) I dont know if it is feasible though or if the Nets would even want it. Quote Link to comment
cheeselogger
I thought Stern wanted Zeke out of NY already? last I read he was putting a lot of pressure for Dolan to fire Zeke and start cleaning up the once-fabled franchise? Quote Link to comment
agentjackbauer
Its Rudy Gay time in Memphis!!!! Woohooo!! My players who will be affected by this trade: Gay= will greatly benefit from this deal Darko= c'mon man, you got to make good on this opportunity Odom= less rebounds for Lamar? will this trade free him up or will the Lakers think he's expendable and trade him? gift_of_game
I thought Stern wanted Zeke out of NY already? last I read he was putting a lot of pressure for Dolan to fire Zeke and start cleaning up the once-fabled franchise? Believe it, Dave wants to make it happen. He admits that he could've levied a whole caboodle of fines and penalties on the team for all the improprieties they've pulled so far--GOODELL style--- if he wanted to. But the thing is, he's done exactly jack about it. this may very well be his way of handling things, he just doesn't want to get it bigger than it already is. ahem, again, Goodell-style. even Letterman takes shots at them: "If I wanted to see some clowns, I'd go to watch a Knicks game." agentjackbauer
And Earvin Magic Johnson comes out and says the Knicks have turned the corner and will definitely make the playoffs as a "tough 7th or 8th seed." If ever that happens, that's a testament to how weak the Leastern Conference is. Quote Link to comment
