Melo Update

Carmelo Anthony was forced out of Monday's loss to the Lakers with a nasty ankle injury, but X-rays came back negative. He will be re-evaluated in Denver on Tuesday.

It looks like Anthony sprained his ankle, but we won't know how severe it is until sometime on Tuesday. If Melo misses significant time, the battered Nuggets will lean heavily on Linas Kleiza, who is worth a flier in most leagues. Jan. 22 - 1:35 am et (rotoworld.com)

Dwight Howard, defending champion Gerald Green, Jamario Moon and Rudy Gay were announced as the four candidates in this season's Slam Dunk contest.

The contest will be held Feb. 16 during All-Star Saturday night in New Orleans and there will be a slight rule change. After the final round of dunks, fans can vote by text message or on NBA.com to determine the winner. A panel of judges will decide which two dunkers advance to the finals. Jan. 21 - 6:09 pm et

Great news for you!

Carmelo Anthony received some good news on Tuesday in that the Nuggets have deemed him day-to-day with his sprained ankle.

He's doubtful for Wednesday's contest against the Hawks and could still miss several games. But the fact the hasn't been listed as "out indefinitely" is a good sign. He's still experiencing "swelling and discomfort," and we'll hopefully have a better idea of his future status on Wednesday. Jan. 22 - 5:03 pm (rotoworld.com)

Bad news for Deng owners

Updating an earlier post, the Chicago Tribune is reporting that Luol Deng will miss "significant time" with his lingering Achilles' injury.

Coach Jim Boylan says that Deng will miss weeks, and not days with the injury. Consider Deng out indefinitely and pick up Andres Nocioni, who will start, if he's still available in your league. This news also should ensure that Thabo Sefolosha continues to get plenty of minutes for the Bulls. Jan. 23 - 3:22 pm et (rotoworld.com)

Please dont do this to me A.I.

Nuggets guard Allen Iverson is questionable for Wednesday's game, citing a left wrist injury suffered Monday against the Lakers.

Iverson sat out today's shootaround, often holding his wrist. He said he will have X-rays taken this afternoon. Carmelo Anthony has been ruled out, according to the Denver Post. Linas Kleiza will start in place of Melo, while we're guessing J.R. Smith or Yakhouba Diawara would start if Iverson can't go. Jan. 23 - 2:24 pm et
