To hell with Starbury. Bye punk. I hope you get what you want (a surgery to end your season).

Stephon Marbury will miss at least the next two Knicks' games after being diagnosed with inflammation and a chronically fractured bone spur on his left ankle on Monday.

Marbury went after practice Monday to see specialist Dr. William Hamilton, who recommended Marbury wear a walking boot for three days before being evaluated with an MRI exam. Marbury is hoping to have surgery, thus effectively ending his season (for the most part), but we'll have to wait and see if the doctors agree. Jan. 14 - 5:27 pm et

"Ron Artest is now saying that he, along with Mike Bibby, will return to action from elbow surgery on Wednesday against the Raptors.

Wow. We knew Bibby was coming back, but this is about a week early for Artest. He still has to be cleared by the team, but he's been shooting with his right arm, which is a good sign. That noise you hear is the wind whistling past the bodies of Francisco Garcia, John Salmons and Beno Udrih as they free fall. At least one of them will probably still keep some of their value, but they are suddenly very risky fantasy starters with this news. Jan. 14 - 3:29 pm et"

Ouch. I have Salmons in this league.

grabe...my absence in the past month is killing me...ang daming na forgo na pick ups...baon na ako sa champs league...dont know what to do...waaaahhhhhh any pointers sa mga masters para ma improve team ko here and in the champs league??? when i grow up i want to be gwaps or ajb hehehehe

ahahaha... you don't wanna be like me, believe that...

well... i'm only decent at standard leagues... i've never placed above 10th in any 20-team leagues... i'm not a good fantasy GM (read: poor patience)

well, with all due respect, here goes (in my opinion) :

mtc premiere: excellent job staying at the 5th spot despite being out for a month... though, you could do better than a jordan farmar and a chuck hayes (i think)... some "borderline upgrades" come into mind - joel prz, mikki moore, luke walton, jeff mcinnis, reggie evans, SHAQ, kendrick perkins, eddy curry (what?), chris duhon, sam i am - depending on how you analyze ur team's str and weakness...

the champs league: same opinion as above - you have farmar and hayes, which could easily be replaced by other players that'll target your needs on a consistent basis... AND note that, the champs league does not have the MTC trademark A/T cat, so, its way lot easier to balance than the premier...

...looking at ur crew, u need to trade for a PG - no, watson and white choc aint gonna help you... try dealin ilgauskas or collision for a good passing PG (i think you could get a felton from Z)...

the flaw with ur teams: farmar just aint getting it done consistently... and hayes, too... get better...

tip on both leagues: get larry hughes... i dunno, that's just me...

Nuggets' Nene has surgery to remove testicular tumor

January 15, 2008

Doctors removed a tumor from Nuggets forward Nene, according to the player's Web site Tuesday Jan. 15, 2008. The statement said the surgery was done Monday at a Denver hospital, but it did not indicate whether the tumor was cancerous or where it was located.

AP - Jan 15, 11:36 am EST

ATLANTA (AP) -- Denver Nuggets forward Nene underwent surgery Monday to remove a testicular tumor, and a biopsy will determine if it was cancerous.

The Brazilian player took an indefinite leave of absence Friday, and there is no timetable for his return.

"Nene is recovering well and in good condition," Dr. Fernando J. Kim said.

The operation was done at Denver Health Medical Center. Kim said a "right testicular mass was found incidentally and it was managed surgically." The tumor was found last week in an exam by team physician Dr. Saurabh Mangalik.

"I want to thank my fans, my teammates, the Nuggets organization and everyone that's been supporting me," Nene said in a statement released by the team before Tuesday night's game at Atlanta.

"My victory will represent their victory as well. Thanks for being with me in this moment. I will remember all the appreciation. I thank God that we could detect this at such an early stage."

Denver coach George Karl noted that he and his son, Coby, have fought cancer. George Karl has had surgery for prostate cancer.

"As a cancer survivor and someone who has watched his son go through two cancer-related surgeries, I know firsthand the emotions and fears that you feel when someone says you might have it," Karl said. "Our job now is to support Nene and be there for him as a family. Basketball is at the bottom of the totem poll at a time like this. We just want him to get healthy."

Nene is averaging 6.4 points and 6.4 rebounds. He missed 22 games earlier this season after undergoing left thumb surgery. He was out for all but one game of the 2005-06 season after tearing a knee ligament, and he was sidelined for 27 games the season before with a variety of ailments.

Blankface,

I agree with Gwaps on how you need to trade for a pg. Your line-up has too many shooters. The abundance of shooters and the lack of a quality pg is why you have a winning 8-3 record in 3s and a 3-8 record in assists. IMHO, you could try to move Raja Bell or Vince Carter. While the triumvirate of Kobe, Melo and Vince looks amazing on paper, it would really do your team a world of good if you could trade a quality pg for either Melo or Vince (I'd choose to trade Vince). You could also let go of Terry for a more conventional pg since Jason has more of a shooting guard's mentality (well, that's coz he is a shooting guard, ha ha).

Once you have your pg, go get another quality big. Yup, despite Z, Dalembert and Gooden all on your team, Im saying go get another big,a power forward maybe. Why? As of this writing, you are number one in the league in rebound totals and second in block totals. However, you only have 6-5 records to show for both categories. It doesnt make sense right? In comparison, my team is 3rd in block totals (you are ahead of me by one as of this writing) and 4th in rebs (you lead my team by 36 rebs) but I have 7-4 record in rebs and a 9-2 record in blocks. Bakit ganun, considering our teams have more or less the same reb and block totals? One, perhaps because we have faced different opponents, thus, the rebs and blocks totals do not necessarily reflect in the record. So mukhang mas matindi o sinuwerte yung mga nakalaban mong teams in blocks and rebs at the time you faced them. While there could be some truth in that analysis, another reason could be consistency. Maybe the rebs and blocks you got came in bunches which could have given your team overwhelming victories in some match-ups but were not enough in other match-ups. So go add another big man.

In sum: Let Carter, Bell or Terry go and get a quality pg and pf/c. If you can find a replacement for Hayes do so (one of the guys Gwaps enumerated seems very appealing to me at malapit ko nang kunin, nagpipigil la ng ako). I understand why you dont want to let go of Farmar, he gives you consistent 3s.
