Living Abroad Vs Living In The Philippines?

If you are a Filipino and you belong to the top 1% of the socio-economic class population, you can live anywhere in the world and it's gonna be the same for you. Your money will afford you to buy everything you want whether material things or services.

If you are in the top 10% of the socio-economic class population then it will be better to stay and work or do business in the Philippines. Your status in the Philippines, will still be better than a middle class existence in a 1st World country in North America, Western Europe or Australia & NZ. Whatever material things you can have there, you can also have it here and living conditions will even be better because of cheaper cost of services.

However, if you belong to the lower 90% of the socio-economic class of the country, you are definitely better to go abroad to any 1st world economy nation and look for your fortune there. Your low or even middle income existence in a First World nation will still be better than your living conditions in the Philippines. In a First World economy, you will be able to afford own your house and a car with just having a job. It may require you to work in 2 or 3 jobs but it will be possible which is almost impossible or non-existent if you work in the Philippines all your life. Not unless you are a PACQUIAO (magpapabugbug ka) or a NAPOLES (magnanakaw ka sa kaban ng Bayan) o maging ARTISTA o POLITIKO ka..

Make no mistake, general rule is mahirap buhay sa Pilipinas. Unless you're a businessman or at least a very upper-management employee, you will always be better paid in the US/EU compared to the Philippines.

Middle aged doctors and lawyers here on average earn about what, 60-70k/month? Never ka makakabili ng respectable bahay at lupa at that rate. Tapos sa US, they get an annual income of USD 140K on average.

Besides the bigger paycheck, second advantage of living abroad is living away from your relatives. Alam mo naman kultura sa Pilipinas, kung may kamaganak kang alam na malaki kita mo, tatamarin magtrabaho. Iexpect mo nang sa iyo sila tatakbo for emergencies or even pang-tuition ng anak nila. One of the senior management in my old firm confided to me na hindi niya maramdaman na umangat siya sa buhay despite earning 200K/month kasi siya lang umasenso sa kanilang magkapatid. At nagbibigay pa rin siya sa mga kapatid niya until now.

It's a bit harsh and sad to hear but going abroad also allows you to leave your burdens behind and start a new life.
