Some people consider the 80's as a cultural aberration but a lot of really good music came out of the 80's. I love the movie wedding singer which gives tribute to a lot of nice hits then. Thank God for the internet where I could get the tunes I thought I would not be able to listen to again...

Rapper's Delight was performed by Sugarhill Gang and became a hit in 1980.

 

You To Me Are Everything was performed by The Real Thing. It was actually a song that first hit in 1976. It was remixed and re-released in 1986.

 

I'll find those songs for you next week.

 

BTW... as for rap songs, so far there is Tone Loc and Young MC on the site. Andrew E was more of a 90s artist.
