Spend Some Time,Tim Team Frenzy routs Pirates, sweeps four-team scrimmage games Playing with more energy and lots of firepower, Team Frenzy pulled away in the second half to outplay guest team Pirates, 50-33, to emerge as the big winner in the Wednesday Night Club (WNC) four-team scrimmage games at the RFM gym last Wednesday night. With big men Fake_Roxas and Kosakhy dominating the boards and hitting their shots and Pine consistently peppering the opposition's defense, Team Frenzy also welcomed the retrurn of Angryblood into their fold with a consistent offensive which was too much to handle for the Pirates late into the match to post a 2-0 record in scrimmage-type games where four teams participated and were assured two games in the three-hour, 15 minute period alloted to the WNC at the RFM gym. Before facing the Pirates in the fourth game where the winner of the first two games face each other, Frenzy also got instant offense from Pizzapandesal, Chickvoi and Stonerockbato as they beat the Onslaught and Dwayne-led AA/DMC, 56-52, in the first matchup. The Pirates, on other hand, edged the WNC-Team B, 32-28, in the second game after leading from start to finish despite a late attempt from the T-Gang led squad to come back from a six-point deficit. In the battle between the losers of the first two games, the DMC/AA survived a last minute rally by the WNC-Team B to come away with a close 50-49 decision. DMC/AA's big men -- Dimitri, John Rivel, Iki and Adolf -- were too much for the opposition's guard-heavy lineup where three forwards -- Wannabet, Tim Shady and Ako_E2 -- played center by committee throughout the match. With Onslaught and Dwayne playing their usual games -- hitting outside jumpers, driving the lanes and hitting spot up baskets -- DMC/AA also got ample contributions from Vogharth, Wolf, Sikosci, Poknat and Ovaltinekid to outrun WNC-Team B with fastbreaks throughout. The T-Gang -- led by Taken, Ting Lacson, hardworking Tjert and Tobleron222 -- tried their best to lead their team from as much as a seven point deficit with baskets of their own, but just couldn't sustain the effort in the waning moments. The duo of Ako_E2 and bullswakman also had their share of inside baskets, steady defense and lots of rebounds but their efforts were just not enough in both games. Mallninja arrived late into the DMC/AA-WNC-team B match and played mostly in the second half with the same hardworking effort, getting loose balls and scoring off missed attempts from teammates. Bangzie, Teio and Yongfu also tried to help WNC-Team B's cause with baskets of their own. But the night was simply not meant for these guys. And Tim Shady? As traditional ending for this piece, Shady just struggled all night. No excuses, no alibis, the dude just missed a lot of shots despite making a layup or two and some inside stabs. Shady had a decent defensive effort, though, grabbing some rebounds and blocking some shots. But it was just not enough. Next week, DMC-AA and WNC-Team B will finetune their games with some conditioning and drills with Team Frenzy as these teams prepare for the MTC pocket torunament set on Oct. 28.
