If on the other hand you were using a third party accessory say, Logitech's, which runs on a wifi channel you may be slowing down because of that. Try switching channels on your wifi router or if you have 'N' try switching to the 5 Ghz frequency (shorter range, better throughput). Let me know the brand and model of your keyboard and mouse and we'll have a look. Quote Link to comment

boomouse
running visualhub and audialhub needs rosetta to be installed True. VisualHub is probably still the best transcoder around but the developer has stopped developing it so it is an end-of-life product by default. Quote Link to comment
sirlet
Somebody gave me a PowerBook G4 para i-convince akong mag-mac. It's uses a magsafe charger. I noticed one thing however. When I am using the mac and it gets hotter, the charger shuts down. When I unplug it and re-plug it after few minutes, it charges again. If the unit it off, the charging is continuous without interruption. Is this normal to this type of unit? Hope to hear a reply. Thanks in advance! Quote Link to comment

No Powerbook model ever came with a Magsafe connector. I know. I have had them all. Since you specificall mentioned a Powerbook G4, no G4-powered Apple laptop in 12-, 15- or 17-inch was ever released with a Magsafe. The power adapters on these units plugged on the right rear side of the unit and used something that looked like a collared mini-stereo plug with a pilot light around the collar. This is probably how you know that the charger stops working. If it stops charging while being used, the problem is probably not in the adapter but in the unit itself. Ageing Powerbooks tend to be prone to problems that cause the power management unit of the computer to shut down power to prevent damage. It can be as simple as dirty insides which can not be adequately cooled. It can be an overheating trackpad and/or display module (yikes!). It can also be something that can be solved in firmware by tweaking some settings. Once the unit starts restarting on its own and then gets hard to start up you know that the problem has worsened. Is it normal for this type of unit? Yes, but by my experience only for those that have been misused and/or badly maintained.I suggest that you send it in to an Apple repair facility for cleaning before things get out of hand. They will also evaluate it and let you know what future problems you can expect. The problem can also be an overheating battery by the way. Quote Link to comment

NO IDEA KASI AKO KUNG SAAN MERON EH. THANKS AGAIN. YOU'VE BEEN VERY HELPFUL IN THIS THREAD... I only entrust my Apple equipment to one shop. Ynzal used to be an Apple reseller but some politics got in the way for the them but they are still a certified Apple service facility AND the shop of choice of almost all of the advertising and graphics agencies in Manila for servicing Macs. They are in QC, just a block away from Timog Ave. check out their details at www.ynzal.com Quote Link to comment

SMC Fan Control can raise your battery load by running the fans at a higher speed (a good idea if you are working in a non AC room in the tropics).Do you have a cooling pad connected? What about an external HD? Ipod? iPhone? Bluetooth is on?You know 3 to 4 hours is not so bad. The 7 hours is always quoted as a figure under the best possible conditions. Meaning, lowest load, dimmed screen, etc. Imagine what the real world endurance of those cheap windows based laptops would be if they are being quoted at 3 to 4 hours by the vendors? My benchmark is if I can watch a full movie on one battery charge, that is pretty good. Quote Link to comment
