because I am overweight and with high blood pressure, the center suggested a sleep study, which I did, the 2 part sleep study consisted of the diagnostic portion and then the therapeutic portion. The diagnostic portion diagnosed me with mild to moderated sleep apnea. the therapeutic portion included a continuous positive airway pressure machine (CPAP) hooked up and the mmhg pressure was adjusted to the level I needed and be comfortable with it.

After six months of continously using the machine it produced the following:

1. No more snoring. The best judge to this my bed partner who has not heard me snore at all over this period!

2. I used to be sleepy during the day specially during idle periods, now I am wide awake.

3. My blood pressure has maintained to acceptable levels ( med support too included).

4. Weight I lost 8 pounds since then.

5. blood sugars are now in the mid normal from a high normal values.

So it is working for me without going to uvulectomy. I feel refreshed when I wake up, not tired. My blood pressure, sugar, are normal and the risk for cardiac disease and stroke for me has been minimized. of course food and medication plus exercise are the adjunct to the above.

I stood at 163 cm and weighed 85kgs, snore almost every night. Wife was beginning to complain and gets irritated. I decided to eat healthier food and run and workout 3 times a week. After six months I was down to 72 kgs, the snoring is gone. Would snore once in a while if I go on a drinking binge specially if I drink beer.
