  1. Question lng po mga MAC users...

    pano po ba magconnect ng dial up sa MAC; gamit ung bagong OS 10 tiger;

globe po kc ung phoneline nmn, e yung cousin ko dla nya from states ung

mac book nyang bago, e ung dial up ng Globeline e ala pong PW, kaso ung

mac e naghahanap ng pw pag kumokonek, pano ko po ba papaganahin.

    THANKS A LOT PO!!!!

Actually globe help desk says that they dont support the mac modem. Iv never been able to connect my mac to a globe dial up. Sorry

BTW, i have a balck ipod nano 2gb that i dont really need anymore. im sellin it for a reasonable price. complete package for 5K. still with apple care which is good for i think another 6months. PM me if your're interested.

  2. why dont you try going to greenhills check mo kung ilan ang nagbebenta ng mac software doon as compared to pc. isa lang ata nakita ko nagbebenta don. even if you go sites such as downloads.com or tucows.com mas marami pa rin ang nasa pc. kaya nga bago ako bumili nito tintingnan ko muna kung magbebenifit ako dito in terms of application and usage. just my 2 cents. this is not a myth but a reality.

In reality there is only one shop that sells pirated mac softwares in greenhills. The shop actually dictates the price since he monopolizes the market. mac softwares are at leat 400php per CD compared to Windows which you can get at cheap as 35php. Yes mas madaming mapagpipilian na sofwares for windows but the question is how many different media player, photo editing, word processing, spread sheet, video editing softwares do you need. if you have a good software, one is all you need. personally i have only one software for each applications except for media player, Quicktime Pro and VLC (both for free if you stay with Quicktime, not the pro). All of the Mac softwares i have encountered are created soundly unlike most of the windows software i tried.

  3. pls count me in....i just got a bnew ibook....very nice piece of ass...

meron nga lang ako noticed na hairline scratches sa cover...(pero di naman talaga noticeable)...dyahe ang pearl finish ng ibook..sobra delicate....natatangal ba yong scratches (di naman kalaliman ).  paano ito iwasan?

buy a full body mask. is a sticker like thingy that will protect your baby.

ano bang application ang magagamit mo sa mac?

    what apps do you need?

Apple ignited the personal computer revolution in the 1970s with the Apple II and reinvented the personal computer in the 1980s with the Macintosh. Today, Apple continues to lead the industry in innovation with its award-winning desktop and notebook computers, OS X operating system, and iLife and professional applications. Apple is also spearheading the digital music revolution with its iPod portable music players and iTunes online music store.

  5. The latest Macintosh today is the G5. The monitor and the CPU are integrated into one piece. Personally I'd love to have one but it costs P140,000. If you ever get one, try getting the 20-inch version.

I got to use an Apple PowerBook180 before. The PGA golf game was fun.

I also got use an AppleII in the late 70s and early 80s. I enjoyed Strategic Simulation games. Today you can still play them on the IBMPC with an AppleII emulator. I still play Guadalcanal, or USAAF-Strategic Bombing of Nazi Europe.

Hey you can even play Competition Karate.

Just a clarification. A “G5” is a processor not a model. Other Mac models also runs on G5 power chips. Even four of them in one machine. I think you were referring to a iMac G5

    thanks for the comments.

keyboard, mouse, etc...that's really my concern because i'd have to buy everything. as in starting from scratch. i just wanted to have one at home to be more familiar with it.

we basically use the mac's here for testing/deployment (and some extra activities which im sure is not making the IT dept not very happy) since all our tools will only run on windows.

    get the iBook 12"

  8. anybody here who's got a macmini? being a poor poor me, i cant afford a G5 for personal use so im considering getting a macmini. is it worth it? i dont know anyone who owns one and i've only read few reviews on it.

It would really depend on what you will use the mac mini for. If you’re using it for home/personal use and not for hardcore graphics and movie editing it is worth every penny. if you don’t have an existing Monitor, keyboard and mouse available it would be another expense to consider. Keep an open mind on getting a second hand G4 iBook.

  9. so pwede yung mga chupipoy na mouse and perifs sa macs?  like webcam?  what about my cool wireless keyboard and mouse?

kung pa pogi lang, wag na, dont' really go for that...

what about software availability?  pirated?  not for me ha, just asking, hehehehe...

Being an eye-candy is just a big bonus. Bottom line, Macs are great machines. I would rather have a Toyota Sprinter which can burn a quartermile in less than 10sec than a 10 sec owner type jeep with practicaly the same price.

I use a bunch of chipipay things, A4tech wireless mouse and keyboard, a 250php CDR King Mouse, HP3500 Deskjet printer, USB Keyboard, PS2 Keyboard, RF Presentation Controller and any digital camera without even installing any drivers.

Our group does not advocate piracy but just to answer your question, yes there are pirated software out there.

I switched because i wanted a satble machine and a better operating system. The last time i turned off my 'book was 3 months ago and i cant even remember when was the last time i had to reboot my system (except when i need to when i update my software).

If you are really considering to SWITCH, keep your mind open. If your happy with Windoze then stick with it. But let me tell you bro, once you go Mac, you'l never go back to Windooooooozzzzzzzeeeeee.. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz!

  10. so tell me guys, why macs?

First and foremost “pogi points”. No one can deny that Macs are eye-candies. The power of the design is in it’s simplicity. From the pristine white iBooks and iMacs to the industrial PowerBooks and Power Macs.

Your Linux buddy is right. Macs are more stable machines than it’s PC counterparts. That’s why 80% of the hardcore and professional video editors, graphics engineers and audio engineers use Macs. Toy Story which shook the world of animation was created by Pixar using Macs.

For your basic processing needs, Microsoft Office for Mac is available which is fully compatible with MS Office for Windoze. Most commonly used third party applications also have their Mac counterparts. Just in case there are none, there are Mac softwares which can do the same job better.

There is a misconception that Macs and its accessories are expensive. Yes, high-end Macs do come with big price tags but so do high-end PCs. Ibooks and Mac Mini’s are great machines with a great value for its price. Mac are not snobbish when it comes to accessories. Yes there are Apple Mouse do cost 2500php and PCs have a 7000php laser mouse. You don’t need to buy these babies. I personally use a CDR King portable retractable mouse which I got for 280php and it works like a charm. These accessories are tools for hardcore professional users and luxuries for the average user.

I was personally a Windoze PC fanatic. I use to have e-Cube bare bone form-factor, H2O cooled systems the works and I even considered a fully liquid submerged system but when I switched to Mac I know I’m not going back. My PC system now runs on Linux

My advice is to get your hands on a Mac and personally get a feel of the machine.

    Consider the following Macs:

    iBook 12" G4

    1.33GHz

    512MB

    40GB HDD

    Combo Drive

    APX(Wifi)

    Bluetooth

    1,000USD

    Mac mini G4

    1.25GHz

    512MB RAM

    40Gb HDD

    Combo Drive

    499USD

ps: all the women and men uses Macs  :goatee:
