  1. saw blood diamond over the weekend...v. good movie...nice story line, credible acting, and lush cinematography...

more than anything, it was the cinematography that really caught my interest as i was watching the movie...made me realize to ba good cameraman, one must be a well-travelled person as well...to be able to do justice to foreign locations, one must film those sceneries as it is seen by people who live in them...and a well-travelled person (a traveller, not a tourist) does that...

the cinematography really made me understand the characters of the movie...

as for dicaprio, another credible performance post-titanic and post-aviator...but not enough to get an oscar, i think...he gave a better performance in that ganster movie with jack nickolson...

best performance in the movie i think is that of the black dude...

  2. As the topic says, here's a list of hotels/inns that are affordable yet nice and cozy

    1. Tower Inn , Quirino (near Davao Doc Hospital)

My officemates in URC before would always check in here before . Cheap but very comfortable. Near the mall (Gaisano Southmall) . Heart of Downtown area. Rate is around P800 for a standard room.

If you want to get a girl friend for the night , there's Malvar Street besides Davao Doc Hospital. Check out the thread in pick-up places davao for this.

    2. Sampaguita Inn

This place is always full because it's really affordable . P400 for a standard room. Syempre its an inn so not like the standard room of a hotel. But it will do if you are on a budget.

dagdag na rin ang bs inn, along monteverde, medyo malayo sa downtown pero malapit sa uyanguren and magsaysay park for the durian hehehe same budget as sampaguita inn

same price range naman ng tower inn ang caticia's inn...newly built, katabi lang ng rizal prom...which i think is its best advantage...

  3. yung mexicali, meron branch sa likod ng burgos na hindi naman talaga regular branch...lahat kasi ng mga calls for delivery, dun finuforward...so, its more of a store to handle those calls...but management i guess decided to put in a few tables for walk in...very unassuming talaga sya and tagong tago...para ngang ground floor ng apartment yun eh hindi katulad nung mga branches sa glorieta and rcbc

why bother going there? kasi pansin ko mas masarap sila magprepare kesa sa regular branches, thats why:)

try also the indian stall sa tapat ng somerset along hv dela costa...mukha syang hole in the wall...pero authentic ang taste...and cheap! ;)

try nyo rin ung indian stall sa tapat ng somerset along hv delacosta...para syang hole in the wall, tiny place...just a few tables...pero dun nagpupuntahan mga expats na stay sa somerset...pati na rin mga yuppies in salcedo...kaya dalas puno...cheap but authentic ang cuisine....ok!

  4. in greenbelt (3?) there's Krocodile Grille. Beer is cheap (around 35bucks); they also have this ginormous beer flask (they say it only holds two bottles, but it sure LOOKS more than that) which makes it fun to drink. my friends say even the hard drinks/cocktails are much cheaper here.

food is good as well; they mostly have pinoy stuff (kare kare, sisig, balot, etc).

accessible via the MRT, but there's a bit of a trek involved (you'll pass through sm, glorietta, and landmark before hitting gbelt (dunno lang if there are jeepneys that ply that route).

one of the rare spots in gbelt that has relatively affordable rates. good for barkada gimmicks.

    cheers! :)

hmmmm, this place seems worth a try...thanks for the info....pagkaka alam ko kasi sa gbelt3 bars/restos, beers normally cost a minimum of P75/bottle which make it steep for ordinary pinoys like us though reasonable for expats...where in gbelt3 is this, 2nd floor?

  5. darling, i don't think the village is still open. and by the way, where's the courtyard?

To experience the real Cebu, visit the oldest street. Colon. Watch out for snatchers and holduppers though. When you go there, just bring enough cash and leave your ATM and other important things in your hotel room. Try going to Carbon and Pasil. Just don't forget your hankies!

good that someone still has enough sense to recommend the "real" Cebu...far more interesting than the touristy places...cge nga, worth a look-see ang colon, carbon, and pasil... :mtc:

  6. agree ako, mga gaya kase namin...psychologically and emotionally disturbed na....kaw ba namn magkaganito di ka mawiwindang?...kaya....kahit nagmamahal kami...mahirap talaga kaming makasama. -_-

    i admire your honesty :)

now, on to the issue at hand, i guess no one is saying that getting involved with a psp is nothing out of the ordinary...and we heard it from iwalkalone herself....pero mahirap din naman maging sarado ang isip...i'm sure meron dyan ganyang affairs na nag-work out...hats-off to them B)

  7. ordinarily, manual for greater control...but since i don't want to self-flagellate myself in metro manila's horrendous trafic, matic...stepping on the pedal a thousand times just getting to manila from pasay is not my idea of fun driving...kaya useless ang manual sa metro :mtc:

  8. and where is this place chaquicos bar? kala ko pa naman, makati has nothing to offer music-wise other than ktv, club music, and show bands...

also heard there is another music bar along p.tamo heading towards prc...mostly reggae bands ata...anyone know this place?

Not sure about the food, but Chaquicos Music Bar is a Great Place. It's like a mini Hard Rock Cafe (without the bakla whores, lol).

The Thursday night band is awesome. The Wally G Blues Band. They play a lot of Zeppelin, Skynard, Stones, Allmans, Cream, ACDC, and many blues standards. If you like your music LOUD and intimate.. this is a great place.

Awesome atmosphere, service is an 8.

    Enjoy.

  9. Rastapips, musta...

anyone know kung meron gigs ang jr kilat here in metro manila in the near future?

tsaka, saan sa makati ang makati republic?

    :mtc:

  10. hey,guys....gusto ko sana magbakasyon sa puerto galera with my family....can you give me a list of resorts or lodge na mura lang......

and contact number na din kung may kilala kayo.....

    thanks a lot!!!

as the summer weeks move on post holy-week, u might be able to get cheaper rates...pm ko sau some of the contacts i was able to get...try mo lang...went there week b4 holy week, peak season rates na, a room costed about 3.5th which i thought was steep...

  11. salamat pizzapan...dadalasan ko naman tlaga pgbisita...been a long time since i got meself updated on the local reggae and ska scene...intend to do just that through this thread...
