  1. IMHO, with respect to our DMD's... bleeding gums may mean a lot of things..given that youre a chain smoker most likely your gums are already affected by the content of the smoke...maybe you should also consider taking vitamins especially ascorbic acid...vit c is needed by the body in defenses and in healthy tissues and bleeding stability...you can always ask your dentist for some advice regarding proper usage of mouth wash cause we know that not all mouthwashes are always adviced in certain oral conditions///al so have a medical evaluation for proper intake of vitamins and minerals

any comments or suggestions to my post are acknowledged

with respect to ascorbic acid and other vitamins , i believe that its only important to use then as a preventive measure .i recognize the value of vitamin c and other vitamins in order to provide a balance both for our metabolism and also for health of our organ systems. but using ascorbic acid to remedy an ongoing infection is an exercise in futility. i do agree that the patient needs to be evaluated by his physician for other underlying medical condition, such as diabetes, that has been known to cause chronic gingivitis. with regards to mouthwash , i always tell my patient that mouthwash are just adjunct to treatment , i always tell them to look for a brand that has the least amount of alcohol by weight , i mean percent wise , anything over 15% is too much , and if you go back to chemistry any infected area in our body has an acidic environment and the only way you can neutralize it is by using a basic substance , or any neutral solution . i would reserve this information for later.

  2. hi justin,

bleeding gums after brushing is always a sign of an existing infection, whether its chronic or acute gingivitis and in severe cases periodontitis which not only involves the gums but also bone loss as well. in both condition "SMOKING" is definitely a contributing factor when you say that you are a chain smoker i would assume that you smoke about a pack a day. not only is this bad for your gums but also for your heart and lungs. i highly suggest that you see a periodontist or a gum specialist in order to make the proper diagnosis. proper home care is essential but a thorough and comprehensive evaluation of your teeth and its underlying structures ie the gums and bone, is imperrative to come up with a proper diagnosis.

  3. oic..thanks for the info..but sir how about my gums..diba ang gums to cover our teeth's root...ung ibang part/area ng teeth kow eh ok naman ang gums pero yung frontal gumz kow kung maoobserbahan eh parang numinipis na to the point na kita ko na yung isang buong ngipin..yung bang parang kandila na nuubos? so like to know kung nareremedyohan ba yung sa gums para bumalik sa normal? again thanks sa info b4.. :)

it seems to me that you might want to have your bite or in dental term "occlusion" checked , are you missing some tooth in the back , i mean your molars , if you are that means you are just puting alot of force on your front tooth and causing the gums and bone to go down. occlusion/bite is important, if there is no stable bite, its like a house that doesn't have a solid foundation ,i highly suggest that you see a periodontist or a gum specialist, i know a couple who are trained in the states and do practice there in manila, very capable. a bit pricey but i think its worth it especially if it is your front tooth, gums and bones don't grow back by itself without proper intervention, Guided bone/tissue regeneration is the procedure that needs to be done, together with a properly done root planning and scalling if not

  4. I have a problem abt my gums..numininipis or parang decaying na yung gums ko especially in front teeth? Halos makita na yung buong ngipin ko..what i mean is kita na buong bahagi ng ngipin kow..konti nlang kita na yung pinagkakapitan niya..wla naman me maramdaman ,steady parin yung ngipin but it really worries me..also pwede ba magpaimplant ng tooth only...kung baga kung may bungi ka eh pwede bang palagyan ng tooth iyon parang sa sa pustiso pero pang isang nigipin lang and how much will it cost..any suggestion abt this...any dental advice?thanks in adv:)

/implant at about $2,000.00/bone grafting. hindi pa kasama dito and ngipin on top of it .

  5. hello there,

if you don't feel comfortable wearing dentures to replace your missing molars , its always best to consider having implants placed on those particular areas. You just have to make sure of several things, first of which is the availability of bone remaining , meaning is there enough bone height, bone width and bone density. You also have to ask the dentist what system he will be using , there are numerous systems in the market today , each has thier own high points and weakness, it would be in your best interest to do some independent research, you might want to ask what type of restorations he will use ;again there are numerous choices, from regular porcelain cemented crowns to the more recently developed Zirconium-Yttrium based restorations. take tour pick. Also consider the dentist experience of the dentist . I know it sounds trivial but i think a well trained dentist with enough experience should perform the surgery .

    hope this helps
