  1. OK boys and girls! Dunno if this has been done before. Kakatamad to backread on the whole forum kasi.  Mods if there's a similar thread, feel free to close this one.  :P

Anyway, This thread is kinda self exlanatory, so just let 'er rip!  No holds barred on whatever kind of book you've read, or when you've read it.

    To kick things off...

Last Read:  Rainbow Six, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.

Currently Reading: The Da Vinci Code

I'm into fantasy so right now I'm reading the 3rd book of the hunter's blade trilogy by R.A. Salvatore

  2. Whats so special about starbucks? im wondering why starbucks is a huge succes here in the philippines inspite of our economic crisis people are still speding hundred box just to get a sip of a special coffee..

tell me MTC members what's so special about starbucks?

I used to like starbucks but when I tasted coffee bean & tea leaf's coffee, I didn't want to go back anymore. Way better than seattle's best.

Example: Triple V restos, Gloriamaris, Hapchang, Dencio's, Gerry's Grill, tia maria, Yellow Cab...

Example: Tempura, Teriyaki Boy, Saisaki, Chowking, Little Asia, Pho Hoa....

  4. a good place for buffet will be the coffee shop of the heritage hotel.  they have a good line up of food.  u may go there either lunch or dinner.  the only downside i think is... its not that cheap.  its around P800 per person.  oops, before u give a violent reaction... MAN, ITS WORTH EVERY PESO!!!

(ps:  to the thread owner, i edited the title of the thread a bit.  hope u dont mind.  thanks.  - c3)

Well the best place for buffets is Vegas. I mean everywhere you turn there's buffet this and buffet that. The cheapest is $2.95 and the most expensive I saw is $80. But the best one I've tried is the one in Mandalay Bay, it's around $40 excluding tip but I'm telling you fellas they got everything. From lobsters to snow crabs, tiger prawns, prime rib, pastas, pizza, 10 kinds of cheesecake. From american to european to asian. by the way, this comes with champagne too.

  5. I like Selecta's choco nut which tastes like the good old chocnut that Lea Salonga sings about. If you want sosyal chocnut flavor, go to Uva's at Greenbelt 3 where a gallon will set you back P 800. It's also available by the cup.

Sa imported brands, I drool over Haagen Dazs Tiramisu. I don't know if Ben and Jerry's is available locally but I like all their flavors.

I like Haagen Daz's Dulce de Leche, Ben & jerry's chunky monkey but if you want awesome ice cream, you should try coldstone creamery. They got a wide selection of flavors and add ons. They'll even mix it right it front of you and if you leave a tip they'll even sing for you. How's that for an ice cream.

  6. WENDY's is the best tasting

    HOTSHOTS ok din

BURGER KING and CARL'S JR tastes ok but identical in taste

    McDo pwede na

Ayaw ko sa langhap-sarap...Gusto ko langsa-sarap

Jollibee tastes artificial...halatang maraming flavor extenders and enhancers

    Haven't tried Brother's Burger

Burger Machine and Scott's are the worst tasting burgers

In and Out is the best I've tasted here but when I'm in the PI, nothing beats burger machine

  7. WHICH STEAK HOUSE DO YOU LIKE?

AND DO YOU LIKE YOUR STEAK ? WELL DONE!

                                                                                HALF COOK

I prefer well done - T-bone its so masarap

and like to go to STEAK TOWN THE PLACE IS COZY AND VERY ROMANTIC.  :mtc:

Morton's is the best, try their cajun ribeye. It's a little bit pricey(about $50 and up) but it's worth it. Try the one in La Cienega, great atmosphere too.

  8. Pasta has somehow lost its allure due to the emergence of the Atkins and Southbeach schools of thought. But as recent as the 90's, pasta was touted as a health food rich in fiber.

Dread not, my fellow pasta lovers! Give it some time, and I'm betting the next diet trends will again include this momentarily battered dish. (Like recent findings suggest that too much protein that Atkins and Southbeach prescribe is harmful to the body afterall.)

So pasta aficionados, share your favorite pasta dishes, and/or good pasta places to visit...

I like the pasta at Louise's Trattoria

  10. What kind of foods touches the "senti" in you?

    Like,

macaroni soup with evaporated milk - brings back my childhood memories of my mom serving this to me whenever i am sick, or

If I want them to smile, bigyan ko lang sila nito.

  11. ok, so there's pizza hut, shakey's, greenwich, yellow cab, don henrico's, cpk, sbarro, and a whole lot of other choices... so where can you find the best pizza in town?

the best pizza I've ever tasted is from Mauricio's restaurant. I forgot what kind of pizza I ordered, all I remember is that it's got tons of ingredients. prosciutto, black forest ham, wild mushrooms and a lot more. grabe my mouth is watering just thinking about it

anywhere i go in the world,  i always make it a point to try out the local food and the local beer.

i'm no connoiseur but i feel it helps me have a clearer understanding of the local culture.

what beers from which places have you tried and what do you think of them?

Thailand - Singha beer and the locally brewed Heineken...both are ok, medyo matapang ang singha. ice cold, it is a perfect partner to all the spicy thai dishes.

Hongkong- Tsingtao, carlsberg, san miguel....ok naman...the san miguel of course tastes different

Cambodia- Ankor beer tapos meron din silang Anchor beer. para siguro yung SMB at Beer na Beer dito sa atin. pareho lang naman ang lasa.  masarap....also goes well with cambodian food....

Netherlands- Amstel beer, Heineken, Grolsh....they say amstel is brewed using water straight from the amstel river or mga heineken employees lang ang nagsasabi nun?  honestly i thought heineken a little too overrated after trying it there.  I think Grolsh is, by far, the best commercial beer i have ever tried.....

Germany-sadly wasn't able to try much at the the beer capital of the world.  just a few from some microbreweries which were sooooooo gooooood.....also tried Poulaner beer pala. ok din

UK-Boddington's.....oh yeah. nothing like a pint of boddington's in an authentic english pub.

Mexico-Corona and Dos Equis....not too sure if dos equis is brewed in mexico or in another south american country, anyone care to enlighten me?  but i like it better than corona.....i can wolf down a lot of corn tortilla soft tacos with a cold bottle of this....

USA....tried a lot of them like Miller, Coors, Budweiser, Beck's, and a lot more i can't remember....for a country that drinks a lot of it, their beers are not really that spectacular.....sabi nga, they're all the same, just piss-colored water s'all.....give me a san mig pale pilsen any day......

In Italy and France it is all wine so i did not get to try any beer while i was in those places. parang tubig lang ang wine dun eh...

any of you guys tried Mississippi Mudd, it's like a brown ale beer. If you can get your hands on some, try it. It's really good. They got over at Trader Joe's.
