  1. Initial Questions for discussion

    1) Why do you like Lacoste?

Clean, simple cuts. Perfect for everyday use.

    2) Are u a Lacoste Fanatic?

No. One, i'm not shelling out $5000 pesos for a shirt that looks so commonplace and so unoriginal. Two, Lacost screams government employee to me.

    3) What Lacoste products do you have in your closet?

2 bags -- both gifts. A goose-down jacket (yung puffy na jacket) because I can't find anything in the Phils that is suitable for winter except that.

    4) What's the oldest Lacoste product you have at the moment?

    A Lacost school bag.

    Additional Question(s):

1.) which lacoste store do you like visiting or which store has

    the most number of stocks?

  2. sorry, let me clarify my question.

does having an overseas qualification (a degree, bachelors or masters) help if you want to practice in the philippines?

as for being an accoutant/CPA in the phils then working o/s. medyo mahirap because the government may want accountants to come in but the businesses require a certain level of work experience or local qualification to get a job as an accountant. most of the people i know who are accountants in the phils (even CPAs with MBAs) and are living o/s don't get to practice accounting, they're usually in accounts.

  3. Guess what bro. it’s not only when they are in the Phil. that they act this way, kahit dito sa US, ganun din po sila umasta.

I met this Filipino guy at a bar who claims he can’t talk tagalog/Filipino anymore but could still easily understand the language.  I assumed he was born/raised here only to find out later in the conversation that he’s been here for a meager five years.  Sa isip ko, kung nasa Pinas lang tayo, sinapok ko na to, Hangeeeeennnnnn!!!!!

sinabi mo pa. i know some people who can't speak tagalog without an accent when they've only been here for a few months. they talk about leaving the philippines the same way a vietnamese would talk about leaving vietnam during the war.

i've only been away for less than a year and i want to go back already hehe. i am happiest when i have daing na pusit for breakfast, chocnut for merienda and itlog na maalat for dinner. i miss the philippines very much. kaya uuwi ako pagnatapos ko tong aking pag-aaral. hindi kayang tapatan ng dolyares ang pollution at traffic at kaguluhan na namimiss ko sa pinas.

pero di ko din alam, kasi baka ganito ang naiisip ko kasi i lived a comfortable life sa pinas. yung ibang tao wala din naman choice kung hindi mag-stay overseas. pero hindi pa din excuse yon to turn your nose sa sarili mong heritage at culture.

  4. i've been to:

    - overseas: the US (California lang, jologs), Malaysia (Kuala Lumpur and Malacca), Singapore, Indonesia (Bali), Thailand (Bangkok during the tsunami!), Cambodia (Siem Reap, Ankor Wat), Australia (Sydney)

    - locally: boracay, iloilo, aklan, sorsogon, albay, pagudpud, vigan, baguio, quezon city, manila, makati hahaha...

    i wanna go to:

    - russia (st. petersburg), jordan (petra), israel (jerusalem), dubai, india, nepal (kathmandu), tibet, china, uluru (i plan to do this this xmas), paris (and stay at the ritz!), egypt (to see the pyramids), south africa, peru, antarctica, venice (before it sinks), rome, greece (on a cruise), cambodia (again, coz i want to walk around the temples and do a lara croft!)

  5. ang dating kasi sa akin, mindgame siya, na gusto sabihin ng girl "i know what you're looking at and what you're thinking... pero hanggang tingin ka na lang... belaat!" ayayay have mercy!!! hehehe

and what about girls who wear those microminis and then take the stairs?!... ohmygollygeewhizcheezwhiz!

:grr:

  6. In answer to your second question, an accountant's work is seldom easy and is almost always stressful.  It may not really be physically stressful (although often it is), it is very much intellectually stressful.

There are a lot of pros and cons in choosing which field to specialize in.  Audit tends to be very stressful and low paying   but also fulfilling in the sense that it has the most opportunities in an auditing firm :goatee: .  Financial Accountants get good pay at the start but you tend to hit a ceiling somewhere down the road (I have yet to see a rich accountant that was an employee).  :)  Tax accountants are very rewarding financially but you tend to be unglamorous (at least as accountants go ) and be viewed as "corruptors".  Management Services is very glamorous but if you do not have the right credentials, is essentially a dead-end practice for most individuals because of the larger players.  Piece of advise on how to position yourself.

Imagine what you want to be 20 years from now and then work on it.  The downside to that is that more often than not, 20 years from now, you will find yourself in something that you did not imagine you'd be in or even if you did imagine yourself in that position, it was not what you imagined it to be.

Take it from me.  I started out aiming for Management Services practice and ended up in Tax Practice.  And I even took Tax 1 twice!!!  I swore then that tax would be the least of my priorities.  But now, I'm in tax services.

I think Audit nga is stressful. I have a friend in this field and his favorite line is "mamatay na ako next week."

I am leaning towards tax but, sabi mo nga, hindi mo alam kung san ka mapupunta. Basta, ang goal ko ay mag-retire ng mid-40s at mag-turo na lang in my 50s.

I am enjoying accounting so far, still getting As. I don't understand why people abhor accounting and find it boring. It's so much fun (nerd!). Hindi ako nagsisisi that I went back to school to study accounting.

Hala. April 16 na.. tapos na ba ang ITR ek ek nyo?

  7. As far as i know, CA is college of accountancy and CPA is certified public accoutnants,  Syempre pag cpa ka you can signed an audit report provided that you meet some requirements by SEC and PICPA.

Normally pag accounting graduate tapos cpa ka pa, you can practise either accounting, tax or auditing which ever suits you.

Tsaka mas madaling mag law pag accounting graduate ka kasi merong kang subject na bussiness law pag accounting ka...

i mean CA as in Chartered Accountant.

  8. does anyone here know what the difference is between a CA and a CPA? and, ano ano ba ang different specializations sa accounting i.e. tax, auditing, aa... etc. alin ang pinakarewarding at least stressfull?

i'm an accounting student. i'm asking para i know na how to position myself best for whatever i will choose in the future. para i know na which extra classes i have to take. which i classes i have to be extra good in. (yuck nerd.)

  9. Thank you for:

    - all the people in my life - even those i hate, because without them i wouldn't be what i am today.

    - giving me a place to live in (kahit na walang heating), food on my table (kahit na na-food poisoning ako) and clothes on my back

    - giving me a supportive family - who will go to great lengths so i can achieve my dreams inspite of my being ungrateful

    - technology - 3000 miles isn't really that far when you have the internet

    - helping me pass accounting 1 and communication 1

    at marami pang iba.

  10. lord,

    amen.
