  1. I had fun running alone yesterday, alright.

    There was enough hydration tables and water and gatorade.

    Gunstart for 21k started right on time.

     

    But

    Freebies for 21k was so konti. As in. A lootbag with a toothpaste and sachets of gel and some discount coupons. Tapos makita ko sa 10k they were giving out grab taxi shirts. Pinuntahan ko nga boothnggrab taxi. Telling them na dapat 21k finishers rin meron. Hehehe ayun, nabigyan ako atmay P150 cash back pa ako for using the app ion my way to the race venue that morning. Haha

    Personally, that was a lousy run for me. I was super slow. But since im a year older, i did not care na. I ran/jogged at my own pace all throughout. No walking in between. Thats my consolation. Haha

     

    Now, will prepare for milo manila elims. I miss doing a full. Sana lang makaabot sa registration..

    Ps. How true that there was/were mortalities at the last Ru2? Anybody heard that news?

    Heads up for those joining Milo 42K: they require medical clearance to be submitted by July 12 or else the runner will be disqualified.

     

    Pro: ensures runner is capable of enduring the race, gives actual health status

     

    Con: added expense and time

    I have heard about the medical clearance thing sir. But have not read it on their profile yet. Sayang. Balak ko pa naman to register na when I get to manila this weekend. Kaso, wala na ako time to get a medical clearance.

     

    I guess, Milo is being cautious na rin. I think one of the first running a race mortality came from a milo race a few years back.

     

    Talaga I hope to meet her para may kasabay sa 21K kung aabot ako sa kanya...

  5. I am not sure If I will enter this run, baka scheudling conflict. Last minute ako mag register if ever, preferably 21k distance. I'll use this as my baseline to determine my current 21k time. If ever kitakits po.

     

    congrats sa mga successful RU2 runners. I was looking at the pics and discussion thread at naawa ako dun sa babaeng na cyber bully dahil me dalang isang piling nang saging. Paki ba nila!

    Ooopss.. Isa ako sa nag comment at nag share nung photo na yun. B)

     

    I admit natawa ko sa kanya. At the same time naawa ako. Her companions if she had any should have oriented her about runs like the RU2 if it was her first time.

    Naawa ako kasi ang sakit sa kamay hanggang braso nung isang piling na saging ha. Pati leeg nya malamang nanakit sa dami nakasabit. And she was running a 10k distance, not merely the 3k or 5k fun runs.

     

    Sana lang maynag clarify nung photo na yun. Di ko na nasugaybayan e. It was taken down the other day.

    How are you all runners?

     

    As for me, have not been running much the last 2 months. Panay short uphils lang. Magpawis lang. I have been busy organizing a run here at our place so panay routecheck lang.

     

    I forced myself to register to a tun for my bday sa june kaya i started to be back on track again. Who is running the world vision run on the 22nd? Or panay pang world class na lang ba kayo? :lol:

     

    Tapos mag milo run din kami ng RuNurses group namin on the 27th of july. Sana makaabot ng cutoff strongly. Hahaha

    No eh, i was out of the country then. Sayang nga r. That was one on my bucket list unticked. :wacko:

     

    I miss doing an ultra. Kaso wala akong ,apiling iregister. Haha i actually miss the smiles of co runners doing an uktra. Ibang iba when you do runs on shorter distances. Parang deadmahan lang, hehehe

    My group here in bicol is organizing an uphill challenge and we have a tight budget given by the hospital we work woth since its a run for a cause so im trying to look for singlet makers na reliable. Yung sa sulit.com kasi, di naman nagsisisagutan sa text messages ko eh. :mellow:

  11. I am in manila na. And scared for tomorrow's run. Kulang na kulang ang mileage. Puros strength training at tummy training.... Also known as L amon. :lol: :lol:

     

    So who will be joining tomorrow's FFR? Di na ba katulad last year na paunahan tayo maka reg? Kung di nga ako nireg ng friend ko, di din ako sasama e. Sana lang the 9hour bus travel and the 3 days requested off duty are all worth the run tomorrow. :blush:

    has anybody tried buko juiceas their source of fluid during a run? Medyo nauumay na ako sa tamis nang gatorade, pocari at lalong lalo na ang powerade.

     

    i'm talking about real buko juice taken out of the buko shell. None of that coco-water crap.

     

    If buko juices do not give you the peeing-always feeling, the sugar in it will be good. Pero kung oo, please think twice. You will be sweating out and peeing water from your system which can add to dehydration and your cardiac muscles to slow down. Just my thoughts.

     

    RU1 21km slots are now CLOSED...

     

    Nakakalungkot naman na di kayo makakasama ppdd at confu. (unless magregister kayo sa 10km)

    Hi @wyette! Wow, another Ultras! Di ka na ma-reach! Natawa ako dun sa pinapahid na gel. Ganoon nga nung RUPM. Wala kasing abiso sa mga runners nung pinamigay nila yung samples sa race course. E dahil Unilab ang may gawa, akala ng iba warming gel. "Malagkit" daw at hindi mainit. hehehe

    Trying hardER with ultras sir. Though the one i am contemplating with is a bit tough. Though not as tough as the BDM. Haha

    I have not registered yet. Will see my future train runs if i think i will have the guts to try an ultra race again. :lol:

    another question po. I am thinking of buying a GPS watch. malamang po Garmin. Ang ganda kasing tingnan na nasa mapa yung takbo mo. accurate ba yung mga mapped runs. I mena hindi po ba lumilihis ang running line mo?

    Sorry. No idea re GPS watches. Alam ko lang mahal ang mga yun. :lol:

    So it still just the endomondo application for me. May cellphone na akong dala for emergency purposes, may speed, distance monitoring pa. ;) B)

  14. @Confusedcius -- try mo yung ifitness belts baka matripan mo. parang garterized yung pinaka belt nya so nde sya lumuluwag or nalalaglag when you are running. this is what it looks like...

    sayang nde itong model yung binili ko. walang bottles yung nabili ko pero meron kabitan ng bib numbers

    meron naman nabibili na add-ons. may water bottles na pede mo i-kabit sa belt pero parang almost 1k yung 2 bottles (with holster)

     

    and yeah floppydrive is right in saying you should try the power gels in your practice runs first. testing mo muna kung hiyang yung tyan mo sa ganung brand/flavor.

    Re energy gels, pls take them through themouth ha... Not apply them on your legs or any body part. :lol: :lol: may naalala lang ako nakita sa RU last year. B) :P

    Also i would rather advise energy candies, jelly beans and such with high energy content. No need to take them with water. Sakin kasi, di ako hiyang sa kahit anong energy gel. I feel like barfing nung nagtry ako. :(

    Nagpapa reg rin ako sa ate ko. Lapit lang samin sa katipunan rin. Kaso wala paa kong way makarating ng manila before the 9th. Haha dami ko pa kelangan gawin dito before the 8th of february and ang mahal ng plane tix. :wacko:

    Another question po. A friend of mine likes to drink 2 aspirins 30 minutes before his run. Para daw hindi masakit tumakbo. Is this really okay? If I am to believe his heart rate monitor watch records, he does jog fast!

     

    Aspirin tabs may be okay for the "pain" but it can be bad for your blood viscocity... And may result in abnormal heart beats so i hope yourfriend has a physician's order on that... Especially that he is taking 2 tabs pre run. :)

  16. After all the running you've been doing, you'll be pleasantly surprised with your blood test and treadmill stress test (kung sa tingin nyo kailangan pa, hehe) results. Bago ako nagumpisa tumakbo, kung anu-anong meds ang kailangan inumin para bumaba uric acid, SGPT, SGOT, cholesterol, & blood sugar. Dahil sa pag-takbo, lahat pumasok sa normal - first time ever! :-D

    Actually, i started running because of some growth of something in something, last i checked it was getting smaller. Thank God.

    And everything is normal naman according to my blood tests a few months ago. Just did not have my heart checked talaga. Siguro praning lang kami kasi we are in the medical field rin. And siguro inggit rin si doc coz she cannot even finish a 3km race. Hehehe

     

    Oh well, i know naman when to stop when i am feeling something bad when i am running. Kahit sa training lang. I cannot risk dying or getting injured since i know recovery will be worse if i force it. :)

     

    Im glad your blood chem are all normal rin. I still take in multivitamins, a tablet or two of sodium chloride and potassium tabs before a major run though. :)

  17. mga takbo prince and princesses...patulung naman....na lay off ako sa running ng mga six months becoz of the rainy season....any tips on how to come back? i hope i can join again marathons this coming 2014...thanks in advance

    Start with short distances sir. And dont pressure yourself too much with taking speed and endurance at the same time. :)

     

    Im not much of a "good tip giver" but i sure hope you can get back to running. I so love this sport na. ;)
