On the heels of his first primetime television appearance on ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live and his recognition as a 2009 Gusi Peace Prize laureate, boxing phenom Manny Pacquiao now finds himself on the cover of TIME Magazine Asia edition as part of a five page feature story on the boxing Champion that will be included in all editions (global and US market) of the magazine hitting newsstands this weekend. With the population of Asia being the largest in the world, Pacquiao is overwhelmed with the idea of so many people seeing his face on the cover of such a prestigious magazine.

“I absolutely had no idea that when I started my career in boxing, to provide a better life for myself and my family, that I would now be where I am today and on the cover of TIME Magazine,” said Pacquiao. “A fighter’s dream is to win a world title and gain financial stability. But what is happening to me now is the most humbling experience of my life. It is a great honor for me to be the face of my people and to let everyone know we are a small but mighty country. I have great pride for all of the Filipinos living throughout the world and it is these people that I fight for each and every time I step into the ring.” (Fightnews)

Is he only the SECOND FILIPINO to make the cover of time?

  2. Himig ng Pag-Ibig

    -- Asin

I was also in the top 30 who took the UPCAT in my batch (ka batch ko si Kris Aquino, pasado siya, bagsak si Dranreb). How do I know I was in the top 30? When I took the results from the registrar, she asked me why I didn't apply for the INTARMED program (only the top 30 are qualified). Wala kasi kaming pera... gusto ko naman talagang mag-duktor.

Ano ako ngayon? I'm basically a BUM!!!

  4. i went to the woods because i wanted to live deliberately,

i wanted to live deep and suck out all the marrow of life,

to put to rout all that was not life and not when I had come to die

discover that I had not lived.

I've read that book, 'On Walden Pond'. I am trying very hard to live my life according to the principles put forth by Henry David Thoreau . Du'n na rin siguro galing ang pagiging 'pacifist' ko (i.e. my thread 'make love not war'). Sa mga warmonggers sa forum na ito, I suggest you read that book... baka malinawan pa kayo!

    PEACE!

  5. can relate ako...

weird though...taas din suicide rate sa batch namin...there were known attempted (and one successful) suicides sa batch namin ng high school, hanggang college. and more than half of the batch have failed marriages. epekto kaya to ng walang religion o moral instruction nung h.s?

Suicide rate sa amin has something to do with EXPECTATIONS. Napanuod mo ba ang 'Gattaca'. Relate kami sa character ni Jude Law (Jerome Morrow -- who was genetically 'perfect'). Pisay kasi high school ko eh, where getting anything less than perfect is not good enough. 99+ NCEE score was the norm in our school.

    ganun din pala sa inyo?

kami everyday parang bine-brain wash ng principal namin...palaging nagsispeech ng.."you are the cream of the crop, the best of the best..etc.etc.."...parang hitler extolling the aryan race..galit nga principal namin nung 99 lang ako ncee..that bitch, buti na lang forgiving ako hehe  :P

    Anong school mo?

In our batch, out 240 only 6 got let less than 99+. Only 1 got less than 99. A 99 would have made you a pariah. Baka naman same high school tayo?
