been there and visited Kyoto and Okayama. Kyoto is a beautiful place... temples and palaces side by side modern structures. transpo, food and almost everything is expensive, but it's worth it visiting the land of the rising sun at least once in your lifetime.

Been there twice in the 90's. It's a beautiful place. What we did was hire a guide to take you on a day tour. We stayed at a resort in Panglao Beach and since there are not too many souls out there, we really enjoyed the serenity. If you're a diver, this is a must see place. Nearby Balicasag Island has a coral wall meters from the shore!

I suggest this thread be improved by giving tips to readers about the places you have gone to. This could include enumerating must see places for a specific city for example. Sharing info regarding entrance fees to theme parks, etc, as well as what hotels, inns, or guesthouses you would recommend because of cost or what have you would be of invaluable help.

There is actually no point in listing down all the places you have gone to...no one would actually care. But adding tips and info about thouse places you have gone into would add value to this otherwise worthless thread.

Am reading, 'Asleep' by Banana Yoshimoto. The book contains 3 short stories. For those interested in trying to read her works, I suggest that you read 'Lizard' and 'Kitchen' first.
