  1. technically pwede... ngunit ang pagkakaalam ko ay yung first 3 digits ng cellphone number mo determines whether pre-paid or post-paid ka sa isang telco... naka-experience kasi ako na may makausap sa customer service ng isang telco... nung hiningi yung number ko at narinig yung 1st 3 digits... tinanong agad ako at sinabing hindi daw nila akong pwedeng i-entertain dahil "**-paid" daw ako... so i guess they know at once if you're a pre-paid or post-paid subscriber of their network... :):):)

    Tama si binoyski, technically pwede.

Yung cellphone number is just assigned to the SIM serial number, so basically you can assign any phone number to the sim serial number. Pero there is a reason why the first 3 numbers determine if you are 'prepaid' or 'postpaid' mode. Mas madali daw kasi sa switching ma-connect sa numbers if the number ranges are similar. Or that's what my friend told me.

Sa Globe, may promo on switching from postpaid mode to prepaid mode, then returning to postpaid mode.

  2. Manny Pacquiao is a disgrace period. He might be one of the best boxer in the world but as a husband and a parent he is nothing but a failure. His wife giving him full support and comfort is only for "show". Its all about the money...... I just hope he will stop acting/playing as a hero to the Filipino people. Ayusin muna nya ang buhay nya before asking us to unite. Instead of accepting publicly that the girl is his mistress, ang sabi nya pa one night stand lang daw and he was drunk. What a lame excuse.

    Opinion:

I believe manny pacquiao is a disgrace. I think he is just for show.... etc.

  3. I hope the negative sentiments is not rooted on the pinoy culture "crab mentality". :(

On the topic, anybody who've followed both boxer's careers will know that both boxers will give their all, no one will quit. It is in their characters to give 100%, specially at this point of their careers. Which means we will have a great fight on sunday! :thumbsupsmiley:

I just hope the fight does not take too much from both Manny and Eric.

        1. Michael Hackett- Ginebra

        2. Tony Harris-Swift

        3. Rob Williams-Tanduay

        4. Carlos Briggs-Anejo

        10. Henry James- Ginebra

Agree with the selection except I would replace Carlos Briggs with Norman Black and Michael Hackett with Billy Ray Bates.

  6. I'm rooting for Manny but I'm a bit worried with Morales' weight. If this guy makes the weight-in (130 lbs limit for their featherweight bout), this guy wll surely stock up on food and be bigger come fight time. Notice how stocky Morales was during his first fight with Manny, he seems too large to be a featherweight. More of a lightweight to me. But I just hope that Manny's fingerspeed + power can turn this fight around.

That's always been Eric Morales', and most boxers, style going into a fight: make the weight limit and bulk-up after. This usually gives them an advantage.

But this Manny can take advantage of. Notice how Eric had trouble with Zahir Raheem's handspeed and footspeed. Manny should employ an in-out strategy, moving away from Morales' right hand, and doubling of his southpaw jab.

But most importantly, Manny should focus on Eric's body. Most fight afficionados, local and foreign, noticed that EM does not like getting hit on the body. With a very sturdy chin, you will not KO him purely on head punches. But with a consistent body attack, Manny may be able to wear-down EM by the late rounds, and go all-out by the championship rounds.

  7. pag nanalo si manny mabuti pa tumakbo na sa buwan si barrera at marquez!

    Malamang dun talaga sila matagpuan!!

Eh sa takot nila na baka i-match ulit si Manny sa kanila.

Pero let's not overlook the current bout, which to me will define where Manny will go after.

  8. Barrera's not picking Eric to win, he's hoping Morales would win so he would not fight Manny again.

Here's more motivation for Pac Man to take care of Morales convincingly in their next fight: a chance to let Marco Barrera eat his words and another chance to give the Mexican loudmouth a bitch slapping.  Heck, Morales should just lose this one on purpose just to have someone beat the s**t out of Barrera as he will always have a hard time winning over Barrera.  He just losses his wits when he's in the ring with Marco and just brawls.

    Barrera picks Morales over Pacquiao

    The Philippine Star 12/09/2005

Marco Antonio Barrera, the Mexican legend who beat arch rival Erik Morales in the trilogy of their classic duel but whom Manny Pacquiao demolished to gain worldwide recognition a couple of years ago, has picked Morales over the Filipino boxing icon when the two clash in a rematch on Jan. 21 in Las Vegas.

"Morales will dominate in an easy fight," said Barrera in an interview with popular boxing website SecondsOut.

Barrera downplayed Morales’ listless 12-round loss to unheralded Zahir Raheem in September, saying his compatriot was not motivated and did not train hard aside from fighting too heavy (weighing in as a lightweight).

But Pacquiao, who stopped Hector Velazquez in the fifth round in the undercard of the Morales-Raheem fight, remains unfazed.

"It will be a different outcome this time. There will be no let-up," Pacquiao said in Filipino before he departed for the US to resume his training under renowned trainer Freddie Roach for the keenly-awaited fight dubbed "The Battle" at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas.

Meanwhile, Barrera said he is looking forward to fight the winner of the Morales-Pacquiao rematch midway next year.

"I want to fight the winner of (next month’s fight) and I think that will be Morales," said Barrera.

This developed as Morales, now training at the Queretaro in Mexico, announced that Jose Luis "Maestro" Lopez Sr will replace his father Jose Morales as the chief tactician for the Pacquiao return showdown.

The Durango, Mexico native Lopez, himself a former boxer who now manages his son, is highly respected for having steered him to the world championship.

"We are already working together and he helps me to work with the mitts," said Morales, who is now on the third week of training in the Querétaro, in an interview with Box-Latino.

The three-time world champion also divulged that his camp is already complete with the arrival of sparring partners Manuel "Pirri" Leyva and Mauro "Betillo" Gutiérrez III in addition to Osvaldo Alvarado, Jorge Quezada, Francisco Nava and Refugio Tiscareño. The group’s physician is Dr. Mario Sanchez.

  9. ^^Tama ka nga. Natalo si Saddler sa first fight pero non-title fight. Sa Manila pa ginawa yung laban. However, Elorde gave a good account of himself to earn a legit shot at  Saddler's featherweight crown. Di pala lightweight title. He lost on a 13th round stoppage due to cuts while leading in the cards. Iba pa ang rules noon, kung ngayon nangyari yan, panalo sana si Elorde. It was also Saddler's last title defense. I mixed him up with the great Carlos Ortiz, who Elorde fought twice for the former's lightweight title. D' Flash lost on stoppage in the 14th round of both fights.

Yup, Flash lost to the great Carlos Ortiz twice, both by stoppage(cuts ata yung isa). Pero maganda pa rin yung pinakita nya. But Flash beat Ishmael Laguna, who I beleive ko'd Ortiz once. Maganda yung resume ni Flash, and most consider him the best Fil Boxer(kasama si Pancho Villa).

How do you think a PAC-JMM rematch turn-out?

  10. ^^Saan yang boxingtalk?

I think I saw that Sandy Sandler fight eons ago. Grade school pa yata ako. They had this boxing show on channel 7 that showed classics.  Elorde was fighting for the Lightweght title and was actually leading the fight when he had to stop because of cuts.  Sobrang gulang kasi nyang si Sandler, parang si Agapito Sanchez.  D' Flash fought him twice and both fights ended in the same manner.  These fights were a few years before Elorde became a jr. lightweight champ as the boxing bodies only later introduced the titles to the broken weight sizes.

boxingtalk.com. Merong classics section dun sa message board, dami ko natutunan. I don't know if it is permitted here, pero try ko lang.

    http://boxingtalk.com/

About Sandy Saddler, I thought Elorde won the first bout.

But you're right, the second bout had Flash leading before the stoppage(on cuts). Eh sobrang dumi ni saddler, kinakaskas yung inside of the gloves, yung ulo nya, pati na yata kilikili. May article nga sa Ring Magazine tungkol dyan, dapat daw disqualified si Saddler dahil garapal yung fouls nya.

  11. #18 - halfcourt league: may sinalihan ding liga yung teammates ko so pinahiram nila ako ng jersey ng kakampi nila.

  12. Lumabas sa column ni Quinito Henson sa Phil. Star kahapon. So mga 2-3 days ago lumabas sa Vegas.  Pinapainit ng oddsmakers ang mga chicano paro lalong tumaya.

I've watched a couple of Flash Elorde's bouts(against Love Alloti ata yun, one bout with Sandy Saddler, and another with a Jap guy-the one he beat for the junior lightweight title). Medyo grainy yun, sa ESPN classics kasi. One thing I can say, may right sya sa title na best Filipino boxer. Haven't seen Pancho Villa though.

Member ka ba sa boxingtalk? May classics section dun sa message board, check it out.

  13. I'm starting to have that sinking feeling again.  Pacquiao was again declared a 7-5 favorite by the Vegas bookies.  It looks somebody wants to make a killing and Manny is being used as the bait.  He better knock out Morales or he'llend up holding a very short stick at the end of the fight regardless of how much he outboxes El Terrible.

    Kelan lumabas yung odds?

    Hmmm.....

Just finished watching again(3rd time) the Pacman-Eric bout. Two things I noticed, first, Manny kept moving straight backwards everytime Eric gets aggressive. Not much side stepping. Second, Manny would stop after his offensive, giving Eric time to counterpunch. Two things to improve on.

Brawler201, how do you think Louie Espinosa and Manny Pacquiao would have fared against Flash Elorde, probably at Junior Lightweight?

    :thumbsupsmiley:

  14. I agree that Louie was the better boxer over all. Better skills, great counter puncher, good power and smarts.  But Pacquiao with his killer straight and granite like chin would always level the playing field.  And you are also right that Pacquiao indeed has a sturdy make up that's perfect for the toe to toe pro fighting style.  I'm leaning towards comparing Louie's skill to that of Morales and will have a slight advantage over Pacquiao as long as he keeps Manny at bay and not get caught with any of his big bombs. Easier said than done of course.  With the comparisson, I would give him a bigger chance of defeating Marco Barrera and even money on El Terible because of the similarity of style.

Same here, I think that he's a slight favorite as long as he dictates the tempo and not get caught with a bomb from MP. But once Manny connects, it may be good night for Louie, as i'm really worried about his' knockout losses to Israel Contreras and Alejandro Gonzales(which he avenged later via ko).

Too bad we never saw Louie against "the boxer formerly known as Prince" Hamed around 96-97. With Hamed's wild swings and defenseless-defense, Louie would have punished him with the lefthook time and again.

  15. Of course, Marquez has very excellent fundamentals. He's a very good counterpuncher, fairly fast hands and good balance. Syempre, trained by Nacho Beristain eh. But I'm not really sold on JMM, his' accomplishments include a stinker against Derrick Gainer(sabagay, lahat ng laban ni Gainer stinks :) ), a knockout of ancient Manuel Medina and his draw with Pacman, which he could have been KO'ed in the 1st. I scored it 6 rounds apiece with the 10-7 1st round=115-112.

If he fights any of the three(MAB, EM, MP) in the near future, baka magbago pa tingin ko sa kanya.

  16. ^^I agree. Stupid logic. Specially with all the money that he stands to earn. By the way, the Chavez guy is the same Chavez that recently won over ex-WBC Lightweight Champion Leavander Johnson who died from head injuries after the fight. Like I've said, Barrera is perfect for Pacquiao and everybody knows it.  Maybe Barrera knows it even better.  Barrera is just too macho to let his pride, that will get a beating from a possible defeat from Pacman, get in the way of a sure US $ 2M payday.  Tama si Recah Trinidad when he called Barrera a Mexican yellow belly. Well  here's another twist that I didn't consider, the threesome will collapse, along with the big money draw if one of them retires.  Unless Barrera has a change of heart, that's the end of the real big money fights for Pacquiao and Morales regardless o the outcome of their fight.  Marquez just won't get the same attention and interest as a Barrera.

    Great insights brawler201.

I feel the chances of Barrera-Morales IV is better than a Pac-Mab rematch. Although all 3 MAB-EM fights were close(I have it 2-1 in favor of Eric, the last bout being Marco's only win), Barrera has a better chance of beating Morales than Pacman. As you stated, all strategy goes out the window once Eric and Marco face-off, and this suits Marco better than Eric. However, Marco will always have his hands full against Manny's. :D

But I'm hoping to see another round robin for these guys, not just for us pinoys, but also for boxing's greater benefit. F?*k the ABCs.

Also, Marquez is now out of the picture, he chickened out of the Pac rematch. And his' style is really boring.

  17. #1 - First jersey number used(elementary), kasi fav ko si Andy Fields, import ng toyota nung matagal na.

    #6 - Jolas, syempre (HS)

    #11 - Aniv nung ex eh, required(HS)

    #6 ulit nung college

#21 - College till now, aniv with wife eh, tapos number din ni duncan. Tsaka yan ang average ko ngayon pag may company league, 21 points(10 nakakatawa, 11 na nakakahiya)! :thumbsupsmiley:

  18. Can't wait for March 19(20th sa atin).

Destroyed Marco Antonio Barrera, and scored the bout with Juan Manuel Marquez in favor of Manny Pacquiao by 2 rounds(6 point diff with the 10-6 1st round).

But I beleive that this will be Pacman's toughest fight yet. Though Barrera was listed in most's pound for pound lists, and Marquez was reportedly "the avoided one", stylistically Morales presents the most problems for Pacman. First, Barrera and Marquez are of the same mold- technical counterpunchers. They do not initiate the action and wait for you to miss. However, Morales is different, very skilled. He is effective boxing from the outside and inside. Can fight going forward and backward. Can box and brawl. Has a very good jab and great right straight.

However, i dont think he has met someone with the workrate and punching power of Manny Pacman! What pac needs to do is keep on pressuring erik, what with the long jab of EM. Pressure, combined with variety of punches(right jab, right hook, straight left and left uppercuts)!!!

This will be a GREAT FIGHT!!!!!

My take, PACMAN in a decision or late KO!

    GO GO PACMAN.

Next: My take on the greatest pinoy boxers of all time(Flash, Pancho, Pacman)?
