  1. Sirs... i have a problem opening files pictures and videos which were saved on CDs. These more than 30 CDs contains various important files and pictures, pero ang nakakapanghinayang yung mga video files, some were done by professional videographers on family occations like birthdays, wedding, outings etc. some we decided to transfer to CD from its original betamax and VHS state.. yung mga CD pag in oopen nag prompt ng "cannot read' or "no disk" or someting like that - yung player be it VCD or DVD.. kasi yung mga gawa ng professionals either nag sara na sila or wala na sa kanila yung mga files kasi nga medjo matagal na .. is there still a chance to revive this? salamat po

how old na yung cds? like 5 years na ba. there are cases na nasisira ang recording ng cds pero hindi naman ganoon ka-frequent yun. anyway try using a brand new cd reader for your cds and also try to recover it with a recovery software like badcopy pro.

  2. mquestion panu ko mababasa yung naka pdf format? pagdownload ko sa rapidshare.? pwede pa ilipat sa word yun?

you may use acrobat reader Acrobat Reader to open your pdf files its free. regarding sa paglipat to word, may mga utilities na available, keywords sa google "pdf to word".

  3. Have a problem

Before I used to be able to rip DVD's to xvid or as data in VIDEO_TS folders.

Using DVD Shrink/1 Click DVD Copy/Imtoo DVD Ripper

But recently whenever I use these programs to rip to Xvid format

    I get this error

Kinda weird I have a SOny DRU 810A DVD Writer and I patched it with the latest firmware.

I dont know how to set the region code and could I make this region free? Is it safe? How?

The only way for me to copy DVD's now is using the explore and copy folders basics...

I wanted to rip one DVD to DivX sana, I already have Any DVD and DVD Region+CSS Software pero wala parin. Same Error. Sa DVD Srink naman ayaw basahin ung mga DVD's when I rip them.

sir, it must be a bad dvd copy. try dvd decrypter i used to use this before when I'm still active copying dvds :)

  4. e_T TM(Superscript yungTM) lumalabas pag raright click ko yung flash drive ko.. is this a new virus? help naman po.. tnx in advance..

seems like one, have a couple of those a few months. hanggang sa nagkagulo yung filesystems ko. usually sa usb devices sya nagkakalat, virus name is enfal.d (according to kaspersky) and was removed by kaspersky though the e_ttm on my usb did not change. this thing affects the autoplay of usb device when inserted.

To remove the e_ttm from your usb. copy all files from usb to hard drive then format the usb drive. copy all the files back. then try if it returns to normal. if it doesn't then infected pa din ang hard drive mo. usually the virus hides itself as netsvcs.exe or .com nakalimutan ko na.

    hope this helps.

  5. pki elaborate naman kung ano dapat gawin or palitan. Hope to hear from u soon. thanks in advance

for now there is no need to expand your "virtual memory "/page file. Have a look at your motherboard for bulging or leaking capacitors. If you find some then you have your problem. Solution for bulging/leaking capacitors is to have them replaced or replace your motherboard.

this article might be of help Bulging Capacitors

  6. its a laptop though bro...

    it works on my desktop...

i'm half inclined to re-load xp etc

oops sorry bout that :) Anyway a clean install will definitely solve your problem, but regarding removing the CMOS battery, you may skip that and proceed with the other steps mentioned there. By removing the driver information previously installed on your winxp, it will then treat the previously installed device as a new device and install the appropriate drivers. If all things fail, it is logical to reinstall your xp.

  7. well just tried the ez recover,

still can't locate my storage device...

    any more ideas?

ok here's another one (natisod ko sa google :) )

first print the info on this site Cleanup Windows Device Manager in SAFE MODE. Then turn the PC off for awhile - about 30 minutes. Unplug it from the wall too. After the 30 minutes are up, open the case and remove the motherboard battery for a few seconds. Put it back in and reboot.

If you know how to get into BIOS setup, do that and disable Legacy USB. If you're overclocking, don't.

Then follow the cleanup guide procedure you've printed earlier.

Hope this helps. BTW the above procedure may require you to reinstall all usb devices previously detected.

  8. Guys, I have an external box with a MAXTOR 40 G HDD i was hoping to use as a backup for my PC in the office and my laptop at home...

problem is, my laptop can't see it...  it sees it in device manager but can't load it...  its got that yellow question mark sign...  i tried to update driver, but it can't or won't...  the driver disc it came with doesn't seem to have XP on it though,

it works naman on my office PC...  XP Pro don, Home on my laptop..

it worked on my laptop on day one, then day two ayaw na...

    any thoughts?

That's one of my problem using removable storagel devices using USB, ex: my flash drive operates w/o any problem for a long time and all of a sudden, winxp does not recognize it. other flash drive can still be detected w/o problem on my pc and my flash works on other PCs. Same issue on card readers also. I think winxp registry gets fouled up by re-detecting the same device in due time.

Anyway you may try this program EzRecover , supposedly it will apply the hotfix for winxp re problems on usb mass storage device problem.

    Best Regards

  9. mga tol pa2long naman , ung laptop na gamit ko ngautomatic shutdown once na mg internet explorer ako. I try 2 reinstol the os pero ganon pa din....

Just use the auto-update tool of your computer, If you're using winxp then I guess you haven't installed Service Pack 2 on it yet. The message you are encountering is a winxp vulnerability.

But since your pc shuts down every now and then, follow the instructions of momo_aswang before using autoupdate.

  10. SOri po kc d pa ako gumagmit ng SATA drives puro ATA lng and based on Experience, mas 2mtgal ang Seagate kaysa sa Maxtor pagdating sa ATA.... madalas kming magkproblema sa maxtor dhil madalasa itong mwlan ng partition d nmin mlaman kung bkit.... scguro sa specs n ng Computer un...

    ^_^

personally I prefer maxtor over seagate but now we have no choice ever since seagate bought maxtor sometime last year :D . Anyway, seagate offers a 5 year warranty on most of its drive (flash drives are included if I remember it right). Not a bad deal after all to get a seagate just do a religious back up on your important data. :)

  11. Dudes, may alam ba kayo ng mga links regarding sa mga benchmarks ng mga processors natin ngayon?  Like mga speeds ng mga intel Processors being compared to Dual core vs. hindi dual core or P4 3.2Ghz HT vs P4 2.8Ghz Dual care and intel vs. amd.

Tomshardware most of the information regarding CPU comparisons, benchmarks and reviews can be found there.

  12. Quest

I Have a DVD movie (pirated) bought somewhere

I want to copy it to another blank DVD-R

But I only have one DVD player and its also a writer

How do I go about copying the DVD movie to a blank DVD-R without removing the disc?

And since I only have one DVD drive, how do I go about this?

    Thanks

Copy to an image file first then burn the image file to dvd-r / dvd+r. For data DVD, nero is ok. For DVD movies, alcohol 120% or cloneDVD are some of the better choices of utilities you may use.

  14. Inquire ko kung ang limewire ba malakas kumain ng bandwidth? like let say 6 units using the internet dsl connection at the same time, i notice kasi na naglalag ang iba although naka power switch CNET CSH 2400 naman siya.

forgot to add that your switch CNET CSH2400 has nothing to do with the bandwidth problems you are experiencing. :)

    Regards again

  15. Inquire ko kung ang limewire ba malakas kumain ng bandwidth? like let say 6 units using the internet dsl connection at the same time, i notice kasi na naglalag ang iba although naka power switch CNET CSH 2400 naman siya.

    Hi thunderboy,

basically it depends on the transfer they are making (i.e. the number of downloads they are making in each pc and the uploads being made by their limewire account). If you haven't configured each limewire account to have a max upload and download bandwidth then they tend to use all possible resources. Suggestion is to set a limit to the number of downloads to 3 for example in this way your traffic will be controlled somehow. I just don't remember if you are able to set a password for such settings, baka bigla lang i-clear ng user yung config mo then useless din.

Another possibility is to allocate specific bandwidth to each pc on your network so that no one user can hog all of the resources at a time. you can check out http://www.bandwidthcontroller.com to get an idea on how this works personally I don't have a thorough knowledge on this product.

    Best Regards

  16. Yup, the folders are still there, but can't access. Me and my wife are administrator, and both of our old folders are "access denied".

    Any more suggestions, please. TY

Ok I think you're problem is that you've enabled encrypting file systems on your data and by the looks of it you haven't saved your security key credentials. Another problem is that you have backed up your "data files" only and reformatted your drive. I'm sorry to tell you that it's almost impossible to recover your files due to loss of Encrypting File System (native to NTFS) keys. However you may try to run this tool Advanced EFS Recovery and see if you can still recover your data.

    Best regards

  17. re: steganos, check out the portable safe RW it works with CDRW (for read/write), DVD and USB.

re:usb drive protection, afaik manufacturers of usb drives usually has software available in their websites which provides security/locking.

  18. guys could you help me out here? i have 2 pc's at home, and i want to share the internet with my other pc.  problem is, i'm just connected in my neighbor's router coz' he's the one connected by pldt dsl, meaning he's just sharing it to me.

if you could help help me out, my main pc, is running at windows xp pro and that he's the one connected to my neighbor's router, and this pc of mine has 2 lan cards.  is it possible for me to connect another straight crimped cat 5 from my main pc extra lan card to my other pc and connect it to it's lan card?

could i share my internet connection to the other pc? which btw is also running at windows xp pro. thanks! how do i do it?

Yes you can by using Winxp ICS (internet connection sharing) just make a cross cable (or ask your friendly computer shop to make one for you) and connect it to your pc's lan card. Actually the best choice is by connecting direct from the router hub from your neighbor's connection. :)

The scenario by using ICS and cross cable is that both your pc will have the same IP connected to the router in short no configuration needed sa kapitbahay.

Buying a hub and connecting it to the line from your neighbors house and connecting both your pc to the hub is also possible but the router will now assign two internal ip (ex 10.0.0.2 and 10.0.0.3) for both your pc.

    Hope this helps

  19. My work as well as that of my colleagues at the office deal with some sensitive files that are for the eyes only of our boss.  Our operating system is Windows 2K and we belong to a large network.    While tinkering with his PC, one of my colleagues discovered that his hard drive was shared. The same was the case too with mine and that of the others in our Department.  I was able to untick the shared option but every time the pc is restarted, the shared option is activated again. I don't think there is a policy in our office regarding the authority of the IT people to pry into our pcs.

    Questions:

    1.  Does this mean that the administrator of our network can see, copy and even modify our files?

    2.  Is there a way to prevent this (through installation of some third party software or otherwise) even if we don't have administrator status?

Any help is greatly appreciated.  Tnx

    Question 1:

Depends on what type of sharing was made, as I remember W2k does not allow simple sharing like xp and 98. Try to do this. go to my computer, right click the shared drive and select sharing. In the sharing tab click on permissions you can see who has permission to access your drive. And yes whoever is listed in the permission list can access all your data (on the shared drive). Besides the mere fact that you don't have administrator status makes the administrator virtually the owner of your pc.

don't think there is a policy in our office regarding the authority of the IT people to pry into our pcs.

Technically they do have a right. They're the one in charge of maintenance and all IT related stuffs :).

    Question 2:

Preventing the admin to access your pc may cause implications. If ever they cannot access your pc they might report it to higher authority or take action for themselves (re-configuring your pc to a point that you could only use the program they want and need to use). A solution might be possible if you're allowed to install a program then you may try to install any of these (Previous post)

    Best Regards

  20. is there any way of password protecting a windows file or folder?  can't seem to figure that out...

need to keep my porn out of pryin' eyes....

did i say that out loud?

Bossing, most of us share the same concern so here's a roundup of most of the utilities that is widely available. For me I prefer steganos safe :)
