  1. DeAndre Jordan never played for the Lakers. You might have meant the Clippers.

I meant, the pursuit of the lakers for Deandre is over. Sorry for the confusion there.

  2. Another big man lost for the purple and gold. DeAndre Jordan has chosen the Mavericks in what turned into a tense boom-or-bust wait for Dallas in pursuit of the free-agent center.

  3. There will be no Greg Monroe for the lakers. Monroe spurned the Lakers among other teams by agreeing to terms with the Milwaukee Bucks on a three-year maximum deal worth approximately $50 million.

  4. How about Manny Victorino?

Manny Victorino migrated to the US 5 years ago. Manny is now in truck driving school and used to work as a people transporter out of a hospital...

  5. Sa tingin ko kapag nag retire na yung dalawang divas maayos na ang recruitment and player development ng Ginebra.

true, true, true, true, true, and so f*&^%$#@ TRUE!!

  6. Local: Edmund Fortuno (a.k.a. "Bosyo") - founder/former drummer of Juan De La Cruz Band

Foreign: John Bonham, Neil Peart, Keith Moon, Stewart Copeland, Alex Van Halen

1st week to mid April they will start selling the PPV

Sana nga na ganun pa rin ang presyo ng PPV. Lahat kasi ng fights ni Manny sa PPV eh nasa 990 pesos. But remember, yung PPV sa amerika will be at the 100 plus dollars price range from the usual 60. So kung sila magtataas with the fight of this magnitude eh baka tayo rin. But i hope hindi nga.

  9. Ask ko lang kung may ppv na dito sa atin? At kung meron na, magkano kaya at sino kaya ang may hawak ng rights for ppv?

Most likely meron yan. Checked with my cable provider kung meron na or kung magkakaroon at ang sabi daw eh wala pang advise ang PPV since march pa lang tayo. Try asking at around mid-april at i'm sure meron na yan. But expect the subscription to jack up by more than 100% from the usual price since this is no ordinary fight.

  10. Mukhang may possibility na matuloy pa ang laban ni money and manny sa may...

Floyd Mayweather Jr.'s jail time delayed

    Associated Press

LAS VEGAS -- A judge in Las Vegas on Friday gave Floyd Mayweather Jr. until June 1 turn himself in to serve a 90-day jail sentence for his guilty plea in a domestic violence case, allowing the undefeated boxer to meet contractual obligations for a Cinco de Mayo fight against an as-yet unnamed opponent.

The ruling by Justice of the Peace Melissa Saragosa came with Mayweather's manger and supporters, including rap star Lil' Kim and R&B artist Ray J, in the courtroom.

Mayweather, meanwhile, waited in another building to hear whether he would have to immediately begin serving the three-month sentence the judge imposed last month when the boxing champion pleaded guilty to a charge that he attacked his ex-girlfriend while two of their children watched in September 2010.

Saragosa said she was swayed by a last-minute plea by Mayweather's lawyer, Richard Wright, to let Mayweather postpone his sentence so he can train to fight on the May 5 date his promoters have reserved at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas and promised to pay-per-view television.

Wright said Mayweather wasn't trying to avoid the sentence, and emphasized the potential economic benefit of attracting fight fans and hotel guests to Las Vegas for a Mayweather fight. The lawyer estimated that Mayweather's last seven fights in Las Vegas generated $1 billion in business to the community. He projected the economic boost from a May 5 fight at more than $100 million.

"This is simply a delay because of prior commitments and contracts," Wright said.

"Mr. Mayweather has an obligation to this court," the judge responded. But "given the fact that Mr. Mayweather has these obligations, I am going to grant your request."

Minutes later, Mayweather, 34, was seen driving a new white Bentley Mulsanne out of a nearby parking structure with at least one other person in the car. Mayweather posted photos of a new Bentley this week on his Twitter account, along with separate posts of photos of himself with his children and himself serving people at a food line. The car has a base price of about $290,000.

Mayweather's manager, Leonard Ellerbe, issued a statement later saying the Mayweather camp was pleased the judge granted the postponement to allow for what Ellerbe termed a "mega-fight." He wouldn't say whom Mayweather expects to fight.

Mayweather pleaded guilty Dec. 21 to a reduced battery domestic violence charge and no contest to two harassment charges as part of a plea deal that saw prosecutors drop felony and misdemeanor charges that could have gotten Mayweather 34 years in prison.

Authorities say the case stems from a hair-pulling, punching and arm-twisting argument with Josie Harris, the mother of three of Mayweather's children, and threats to beat their sons in an argument about Harris dating another man. Harris, now 31, lives in the Los Angeles area with the couple's sons, now 12 and 10, and a daughter, age 8.

Mayweather, who goes by the nickname "Money," has earned upward of $20 million for each of his two most recent fights, one against Victor Ortiz, which won him the WBC welterweight belt, and the other against Shane Mosley.

Mayweather is generally recognized as one of the two best boxers in the world, sharing that spotlight with Manny Pacquiao, a champion fighter from the Philippines. The two men have never fought in the ring, but have a defamation lawsuit pending in Las Vegas federal court stemming from statements by Mayweather that he suspected Pacquiao was taking performance-enhancing drugs.

As part of his plea deal, Mayweather also pleaded no contest Dec. 30 to misdemeanor harassment in a separate case stemming from a scuffle with a 21-year-old homeowner association security guard who claimed he was poked in the face during an argument about parking tickets on cars outside Mayweather's house.

The extended jail stint will be a first for Mayweather, who has been arrested several times since 2002 in battery and violence cases in Las Vegas and in his hometown of Grand Rapids, Mich.

He is also on the hook for 40 hours of community service with the Las Vegas Habitat for Humanity Project under a South Carolina federal judge's order for dodging a deposition in a music rights lawsuit.

Habitat for Humanity has not heard from Mayweather, agency official Catherine Barnes said Friday.

  11. Yes, mukhang matutuloy na nga.... ;) Read this via espn boxing news.....

Floyd Mayweather Jr. does not plan on taking another 16-month vacation from the boxing ring, like he did after easily outpointing Shane Mosley in May 2010.

Instead, Mayweather, who knocked out Victor Ortiz on Sept. 17, will make a relatively hasty return: May 5 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, adviser Leonard Ellerbe told ESPN.com on Wednesday night.

Mayweather's opponent has not been determined but Ellerbe said, "We're looking to make the biggest fight possible and everyone knows what that fight is, the little fella."

Ellerbe was, of course, referring to Manny Pacquiao. The welterweight champions and the top two pound-for-pound fighters in the world have been on a collision course for years. However, negotiations have fallen apart over drug testing protocol.

Pacquiao is set to fight Juan Manuel Marquez for the third time Nov. 12 at the MGM Grand and is a heavy favorite.

"Floyd made it very clear that he wants to give the fans the biggest fights that are out there. He wants to stay active," Ellerbe said. "We're going to do everything in our power to make the biggest fight out there for the fans and we all know what the fight is."

Mayweather, a five-division champion, has fought only five times since 2007.

Ellerbe said Mayweather informed him and fellow adviser Al Haymon on Wednesday of his decision to return in May.

"We had a discussion, Floyd, me and Al," Ellerbe said. "Floyd made it very clear to us what he wanted to do. He told us he is looking to make the biggest fight that is out there and to make it in May."

Ellerbe also informed Golden Boy promoter Richard Schaefer, who does not have a contract with Mayweather but has promoted his last five bouts, of the plan.

"I'm very excited that the sport's biggest pay-per-view star is going to be back on May 5," Schaefer told ESPN.com. "We have informed the pay-per-view industry and I have the arena on hold. I'm excited to continue my relationship with Floyd and his team. It's always fun to work with Floyd."

Although May 5 is seven months away, Mayweather's fights have typically been promoted for several months in advance of the fight. The first weekend of May is traditionally a weekend for a major pay-per-view fight.

"We have to plan any time you're the biggest star in the sport," Ellerbe said. "You have to plan in advance because his fights are events. In order to maximize the exposure you want to plan as far in advance as you can to make your event as big as possible. May 5, that is the date Floyd is fighting on. We have secured May 5 at the MGM. Floyd is excited to make his return."

Mayweather (42-0, 26 KOs), who turns 35 in February, reclaimed one of his old welterweight titles with his knockout of Ortiz in a fight that Golden Boy said generated 1.25 million buys and $78.44 million in domestic pay-per-view revenue. The buys tied the fight for third place all-time among non-heavyweight pay-per-views and gave Mayweather his third consecutive 1 million-plus pay-per-view fight and fourth in his last five bouts.

Although Mayweather plans to fight, he still faces several legal cases. He was acquitted last week of misdemeanor harassment charges alleging that he had threatened the lives of two security guards in the gated community in Las Vegas where he lives. But he faces a trial for a misdemeanor battery complaint alleging he poked another homeowner association security guard in the face during a different confrontation over parking tickets last November. Mayweather has pleaded not guilty.

In the most serious case, Mayweather faces four felony and four misdemeanor charges stemming from an alleged domestic dispute with his former girlfriend, who is the mother of two of his children.

  12. HERE'S AN INTERESTING ARTICLE I'VE READ....

Floyd Mayweather: “To say a guy goes from 105 pounds to this (welterweight), and it’s all natural … come on, man…”

Manny Pacquiao made his pro debut against Edmund Enting Ignacio in January of 1995. He was 16 years old at the time and weighed in at 106 pounds. At 16 years old Floyd Mayweather Jr. won the 1993 USA National Golden Gloves tournament in the 106 pound division.

At 17 years old Manny Pacquiao climbed in to the ring in May of 1996 against John Medina and weighed 114 pounds. At the same tender age of 17 Mayweather captured a USA National Golden Gloves title again, this time at (you guessed it) 114 pounds.
