  1. sorry to burst your bubble guys, pero all the best shawarma's here won't half compare with tha real thang... those made in the middle east.

i would suppose so...thats the rule when it comes to food...:)

maybe you should try the places mentioned in this thread...they're much better than anything sold at stalls in the supermarket...IMHO...

  2. i also like drinking wine but i am hardly a connoisseur. i just love reds cabernet sauvignon, merlot, shiraz...usually from chile or australia. i also like spanish tempranillo and italian sangiovese...for white wines i like pinot grigio the most, then chardonnay and riesling...

i just hate how how wine is overpriced here sa pinas...maybe sa shop mo bod1000 reasonable ang price. :)

  3. The best for me was this stand (gone now) at the corner of Katipunan and Aurora, where they had the "mata ng baka" goto... Yummm... I'd request them not to slice up the cow's eye and I'd get it whole in my bowl... Da best!

If anyone knows any other "mata ng baka" goto place, post it here, I don't know where to find any...

there was this place near nagtahan before which served mata ng baka...called Mang Tony's...i'll try to check if its still there.

  4. as for peking duck, i'd have to go with peking garden as the best and most authentic. order it 3-wat. eat the pancake and the soup. then take the minced meat home if you're full as this is the only part which will taste the same after reheating

When trying out a chinese restaurant...my advice is to order fried rice and steamed lapu-lapu. the rice shows the chef's stir-frying expertise and the steamed fish shows his perfection since steaming time should be perfect for fish. too early and it will be raw in the middle, too late and the meat will be too firm. and there's no resteaming as the meat will discolor and show signs of toughness on the surface. it will also show how he controls fire and the water in steaming, two basic elements in chinese cooking.

    happy dining!

hey...great tip. thanks atong ang.! :)

tho personally i like the hole-in-the-wall chinese restaurants like Sincerity, Smart, Qwiksnak in chinatown. :)
