  1. Well, now that I think of it, yeah, Tsukiji, not Furusato is the Japanese restaurant along Pasay Road that's near Milky Way and El Circulo. It's just that I haven't been in that area for quite some time. I know Tsukiji is expensive so I've never even thought about it yet.

Yes, Kaiseki serves pretty good crazy maki. For the longest time, I'd always have steak --I think US Prime rib everytime I'd be at Kaiseki. I'd usually have steak with their seafood fried rice. I should have been trying more fish. Anyway, their grilled mackerel's pretty good.

One of their waiters moved to Tatami(Bonifacio High Street) near Serendra right across Market Market. The waiter promptly recommended one their salads as appetizer. Pretty good. What I'll say about Tatami is that their chairs are not very comfortable--they don't support the back very well, so I felt uneasy the whole time. Their salmon was ok, not great.

So now as it stands, heres a list of Japanese restaurants that I've tried within the year:

    Kaiseki--if you want crazy maki

Sernya--yes the oysters really taste good P315--quite expensive but you have to taste it

Kikufuji--lunch time is value meal time--their spicy tuna sashimi appetizer is good

Inagiku--if I were a rich man, doo bee doo bee doo bee doo

Tatami (high street) --hmmm...I'll have to try it again...to form a better opinion about their menu.

I do plan to try the others that I haven't tried yet--Kuretake at the PowerPlant mall, and Kobichicko. Maybe I'll try Tsukiji. Come to think of it, I did try Manbantei in Greenbelt a long time ago too. I think its near Bubba Gump or Centro...somewhere there.

There's also Nano Hanna(don't know if I got the spelling right) along Valero street Makati. I think it replaced a Jap resto also what used to be called Birdie-- birdie as in a stroke better than par.

I also haven't tried Tsumura(Valero corner Sedeño Street. It's on the second floor.

I really just need salmon, really =)

  2. Where in Rockwell Powerplant mall is is Kuretake?

Anyway, I tried Inagiku at Makati Shangr-La--ridiculously expensive. The clear soup was great, but the serving for the salmon sashimi was not very generous. The service also could be improved. I noticed a Caucasian ( I guess guest at the hotel) was not served for more than five minutes. Like he was at the bar, and was waiting to be given a menu. I think he was almost fuming, just waiting for anyone to notice him. I think it was more than five minutes, like ten minutes.

For value, I'd go for Sernya or Izakaya Kikufuji.

Now I have yet to try Kuretake, and Kobichicko (http://www.kobikicho.com/en/).

I haven't eaten at Sugi for a long time, and the last time I ate at Furusato was when it was Edsa. Now its at Pasay Road near Milky Way.

  3. for linux courses....although quite expensive, and the schedule depends if 6 or more enroll, you can't go wrong with Bluepoint Institute.

    http://www.bluepoint.com.ph

Total Linux course includes installation of OS, kernel compilation, configuration of Apache Web Server, Samba File Server...then the really important stuff like DNS servers, mail servers, and firewall.

For Red Hat or even Buhawi Linux , Engels is the man.

Did you know Bluepoint also offers PHP courses?

for PHP programming, Vips Malixi is the man.

The people at bluepoint are professionals and friendly too. They know their stuff.

for those who know how to install the RPM based distros like Red Hat or SuSE, and want to experiment, visit http://www.gentoo.org......download the ISO installer of Gentoo Linux

portage package manager, built purely on python and shell scripting, is super cool. just use the unique command 'emerge -p xorg-x11' for example.

I've tried this myself--used it at our office

  4. The latest Macintosh today is the G5. The monitor and the CPU are integrated into one piece. Personally I'd love to have one but it costs P140,000. If you ever get one, try getting the 20-inch version.

I got to use an Apple PowerBook180 before. The PGA golf game was fun.

I also got use an AppleII in the late 70s and early 80s. I enjoyed Strategic Simulation games. Today you can still play them on the IBMPC with an AppleII emulator. I still play Guadalcanal, or USAAF-Strategic Bombing of Nazi Europe.

Hey you can even play Competition Karate.
